Process for the preparation of a hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide rich gas from a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising partial oxidation of the feedstock with an oxidant supplied by permeation through a membrane and steam reforming of the feedstock in presence of a steam reforming catalyst being arranged on permeation side of the membrane, wherein steam reforming activity of catalyst is reduced at inlet region of the catalyst bed.

A process for continuous production of ammonium thiosulphate, (NH 4 ) 2 S 2 O 3 (ATS) from NH 3 , H 2 S and SO 2 comprising steps of:
(a) partial condensation in a partial condenser 4 of a first gaseous or partial liquid feed stream comprising H 2 O, H 2 S and NH 3 with a molar H 2 S:NH 3 ratio (b) passing the aqueous condensate comprising NH 4 HS and NH 3 from the partial condenser 4 to a reactor 9 in which said condensate is contacted with a third feed gas stream 7 comprising H 2 S and with an aqueous solution 10 comprising NH 4 HSO 3 and (NH 4 ) 2 SO 3 under formation of an aqueous solution of (NH 4 ) 2 S 2 O 3 ; (c) passing the gas stream comprising NH 3 and H 2 S from the partial condenser 4 to a mixing device 13 in which said gas stream is completely dissolved in the water drained off from the aerosol filter 25; (d) passing a second feed gas stream 20 comprising approximately 2/3 mole SO 2 per mole of NH 3 contained in the first feed stream to a SO 2 absorber 21 and the aerosol filter 25; (e) passing the aqueous solution produced in mixing device 13 to the SO 2 absorber 21; (f) passing the off gas from the absorber 21 to the aerosol filter 25 and (g) adding to the aerosol filter 25 a balance amount of water required for obtaining approximately 40-65 wt% (NH 4 ) 2 S 2 O 3 in the aqueous of solution of (NH 4 ) 2 S 2 O 3 being withdrawn from the reactor 9.

Process and reaction unit for isothermal shift conversion of a carbon monoxide containing feed gas, the process comprising the steps of introducing the feed gas in a reaction unit into reactor tubes with a fixed bed of a shift conversion catalyst in a reaction zone; contacting the feed gas with the catalyst at conditions being effective in carbon monoxide shift conversion reaction with steam reactant to hydrogen and cooling the reaction by indirect heat exchange with a cooling agent by passing the cooling agent in a falling film along shell side of the reactor tubes and removing heated cooling agent from the falling film; passing hydrogen when it is formed by the shift conversion reaction through a hydrogen selective membrane to a permeate zone; withdrawing hydrogen from the permeate zone and carbon monoxide depleted feed gas from the reaction zone.

A process for the preparation of a synthesis gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide by a combination of catalytic partial oxidation and further an autothermal reforming process, comprising (a) providing separate streams of predetermined proportions of a hydrocarbon feedstock, an oxygen source and of process steam, (b) injecting said separate streams into a catalytic partial oxidation reaction zone to react, and to form a prereformed product stream, (c) introducing the prereformed product and a predetermined proportion of a second oxygen source into a further partial oxidation process step forming a further partially oxidised process stream by flame reactions, (d) reacting the further partially oxidised process stream in the reaction zone constituting a steam reforming process step to form a synthesis gas product stream, and (e) withdrawing the synthesis gas product stream from the further partial oxidation process step and the steam reforming process step, the two steps constituting the autothermal reforming process.
