Abstract: A rechargeable metal halide battery shows increased metal halide utilization with the introduction of electronegative heteroatom-enriched conductive additives into a metal halide cathode incorporated into an electrically conductive material. The electronegative heteroatom-enriched conductive additives include nitrogen-doped carbon, such as nitrogen-doped single layer graphene, and oxygen-enriched carbon, such as acid-treated carbon black. The modified batteries utilize 20-30% more metal halide than unmodified batteries resulting in enhanced specific capacity and energy density.

Abstract: A DBMS manages a high-performance accelerated database that is synchronized with a conventional client database. The accelerated database (440) contains both "regular" accelerated tables, which each duplicate a table of the client database (410), and accelerator-only tables (AOTs) that are unique to the accelerated database (440) and that may be used for analytical purposes. AOT rows are archived by moving the rows to a dedicated accelerator-only archive stored in the accelerated database (440). When a user query (400) attempts to access accelerator-only data, the DBMS rewrites the query to adapt the requested operations to the accelerated database (440)'s partitioned archive/non-archive structure. The rewritten query specifies steps for accessing archived and non-archived accelerator-only data without forcing the DBMS front-end (420) to generate a merged view of archived and non-archived accelerator-only data. If the accelerator-only archives are stored in a read-only format, the rewriting also adds predictive operations that prevent queries from altering the archives.

Abstract: A differential transmission line cable includes a notch filter to manage common-mode energy. The cable includes a narrow portion with two adjacent electrical conductors each having a narrow cross-sectional area and spaced at a narrow spacing. The cable also includes a wide portion longitudinally adjacent to the narrow portion. The wide portion includes the two adjacent electrical conductors each having a wide cross-sectional area greater than the narrow cross-sectional area and spaced at a wide spacing greater than the narrow spacing. The wide and narrow cross-sectional areas and spacings are specified so that the differential-mode impedance of the differential transmission line cable is uniform throughout both the narrow and wide portions and so that differences in the common-mode impedances of the narrow and wide portions create a notch filter to manage common-mode energy in the differential transmission line cable.

Abstract: A method, a computer system, and a computer program product may provide a cryptographic key object to a guest virtual server for use in cryptographic operations. The guest virtual server may register with a hypervisor. The hypervisor may generate a guest wrapping key associated with guest credentials from the registering. The hypervisor may also generate a satellite virtual server instance. The guest virtual server and the satellite virtual server instance share a master key that cannot be accessed by the hypervisor or by any guest virtual server. The trusted hypervisor may pass a copy of the guest wrapping key to the satellite virtual server instance. A random guest key may be generated and may be wrapped with a guest wrapping key thereby producing a wrapped guest key. The hypervisor may convert the wrapped guest key to be a protected key that serves as the cryptographic key object.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer system to identify threats on a TCP/IP-based network. The approach leverages a set of reference patterns (or "network spectrals") associated with one or more defined Indicators of Compromise (IoCs). At least one reference pattern is time-bounded and profiles a network traffic pattern using a set of session data (e.g., volume, direction, traffic metadata) that is payload-neutral and may be derived in part by time-series compression of at least one non-varying encoding interval. Network traffic data associated with a traffic pattern under test is received and encoded to generate a test spectral. A stream-based real-time comparison is performed to determine whether the test spectral matches against any of the reference spectrals. Responsive to identifying a match, a given remediation or mitigation action is then taken. A reference spectral may represent a bi- or multi-directional flow, and the multi-directional flow may involve multiple entities.

Abstract: Implementing a convolutional neural network (CNN) includes configuring a crosspoint array to implement a convolution layer in the CNN. Convolution kernels of the layer are stored in crosspoint devices of the array. Computations for the CNN are performed by iterating a set of operations for a predetermined number of times. The operations include transmitting voltage pulses corresponding to a subpart of a vector of input data to the crosspoint array. The voltage pulses generate electric currents that are representative of performing multiplication operations at the crosspoint device based on weight values stored at the crosspoint devices. A set of integrators accumulates an electric charge based on the output electric currents from the respective crosspoint devices. The crosspoint array outputs the accumulated charge after iterating for the predetermined number of times. The accumulated charge represents a multiply-add result of the vector of input data and the one or more convolution kernels.
