A counterweighted blast deflector fence 10 for jet engines comprises prefabricated metal units 12 joined at their flanges 14, pivotally mounted at 25 on triangular plates 22 supported on member 20 of a base framework and movable from the upright position shown to a horizontal position by linkages 46, 54, actuated in turn by a pneumatic cylinder 42 through rack and pinion gearing 36, 38 and a crank 62. The pivots 25 are mounted on a transverse girder 18 and the centrally pivoted arms 46 are pivoted at 44 to a transverse girder 16. The counterweight comprises concrete blocks 26 and the pneumatic cylinder 42, which is attached to a cross-member 28 may be replaced by a motor.

The molded plastic sheets include a pair of transversely extending and lengthwise spaced ribs, a pair of spaced X-shaped ribs disposed between the transversely extending ribs, and a plurality of ribs extending between the X-shaped ribs. Upstanding flanges are formed along the transverse edges of the panel. A seam cap fits over adjacent ones of the upstanding flanges.

    Abstract: 1286158 Wheel-set lathes STANRAY CORP 29 June 1970 31453/70 Heading B3T In an underfloor railway vehicle wheel-set truing machine there is provided means for raising and lowering each wheel set whilst in the railway vehicle to facilitate the machining of the wheel treads and flanges in situ. The means comprises a pivotable frame 58 supported on a base 61 on a foundation beneath the rails and transversely thereto and having arms 57 at each end which carry supporting and driving wheels 56, the frame being pivotable about trunnions 59 by hydraulically actuated piston-and-cylinder units 73, 74 which are connected to the arms 57 and carried in pivotable frame 66. In operation, the railway vehicle is moved along the rails into position over the machine, the hydraulic units 73, 74 are actuated to pivot the frame 58 to effect engagement between the support and driving wheels 56 to lift the wheel-set off the rails and the rail sections 36 are then displaced to provide an opening for the location of the centering and machining heads 46. The heads 46 are brought into alignment with the wheel set, the centres 47 being brought into engagement with centre recesses in the ends of the wheel set and rotary cutters are actuated to effect machining of the wheels of the wheel set. When the machining operation is completed the heads 46 are lowered, the rail sections replaced and the finished wheel set lowered on to the rails. The vehicle is then moved into position for the next wheel truing operation.

A telescopic gangway-see Fig. 4 (not shown), mounted on self propelled steerable wheels which also contract and extend the gangway, is pivoted about a vertical axis (42) to the terminal buiding (22) and has an outer end or cab portion 30 also pivotable about a vertical axis 35 by which cab it is connected to an aircraft. The wheels are mounted on a telescopic strut so that the aircraft end of the gangway may be height adjustable. The outer end or cab portion 30 pivots about a vertical axis 35 to the passageway 26 on a pivot pin 76 on the roof journalling in a socket carried by frame members 80, 82 and may swing through an angle of over 100 degrees. Side curtains 62 are provided and connected to automatic reels and guide rolls, and the roof pivot arrangement 75 and arcuate floor level guide track means are as illustrated in Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown). The part 50 is provided with a circumferential chain (92), Figs. 6, 9 and 10 (not shown), anchored at both ends but passing over a motor driven sprocket 98 and idlers 100 fixed to the cab 30 so that the cab may be swung in one direction or the other to accommodate aircraft parked at different angles.
