Abstract:
The present invention discloses an acid gas absorbent composition, comprising a diethylene glcyol dialkyl ether represented by the general formula I: R O(C2H4O)2R (I) wherein R and R are independently an alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and a polyethylene glycol dialkyl ether represented by the general formula II: R O(C2H4O)nR (II) wherein R and R are independently an alkyl group of 1 to 4 carbon atoms and n is an integer in the range of 3 to 8.
Abstract:
Alkoxylated alkyl glucosides having quaternary nitrogen-containing ether substituents possess cationics utility combined with extreme mildness to skin and hair along with stable personal care compositions and processes.
Abstract:
A method of coating a substrate with an aqueous coating composition that includes an alkali-swellable associative thickener is disclosed. The associative thickener is produced from a monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer lacking surfactant capacity, a non-ionic urethane monomer, and, optionally, a polyethylenically unsaturated monomer.
Abstract:
A decarboxylation process which comprises contacting a carboxylated compound with a metal oxide catalyst under conditions effective to decarboxylate the carboxylated compound.
Abstract:
A process for preparing carboxylated compounds which comprises contacting an active hydrogen-containing compound with a CO₂ synthon in the presence of a mixed metal oxide catalyst or a modified bimetallic or polymetallic catalyst under conditions effective to produce the carboxylated compound.
Abstract:
Novel unsaturated polylactones are produced by the reaction of an unsaturated alcohol, such as tetrahydrobenzyl alcohol, with a lactone. Said product may be subsequently epoxidized to form unique polylactone epoxides. Also, the unsaturated polylactones may be derivatized with isocyanates, anhydrides, and carboxylic acids and epoxidized to form useful modified polylactone epoxides. The novel compounds of this invention are useful in coating, ink, adhesive, or sealant formulations, as well as useful as intermediates in the production of other valuable compounds, and in other end uses.
Abstract:
A process for preparing bridged nitrogen-containing compounds which comprises contacting a carboxylated cyclic nitrogen-containing compound with a mixed metal oxide catalyst under conditions effective to produce the bridged nitrogen-containing compound.
Abstract:
Operative fluids containing lower glycol are contacted with semi-permeable membranes under reverse osmosis conditions to permeate lower glycol to provide a reclaimed lower glycol product. Exemplary operative fluids include antifreeze solutions, heat transfer fluids, deicers, quenchants, hydraulic fluids, lubricants, solvents and absorbents.
Abstract:
A method for distilling a crude aldehyde product mixture of branched chain and straight chain aldehyde in a single distillation column to concurrently obtain three separate product streams, i.e. a purified branched chain aldehyde stream and two different purified straight chain aldehyde streams.
Abstract:
This invention is directed to improved spraying apparatus for coating substrates with a coating material and supercritical fluid which apparatus is provided with various features, either alone or in combination, to prevent undesirable premature cooling of the coating mixture which might detrimentally affect the final coating on the substrate; to prevent undesirable depressurization of supercritical fluid contained in the coating mixture which remains in the spray gun after spraying has been stopped; and/or to desirably provide the ability to mix the components of the coating mixture directly in the spray gun. Methods for utilizing these features in the spraying apparatus of the present invention are also disclosed.
