A method for transmitting high definition (HD) images and ultra high definition (UHD) images includes the following steps of: obtaining a first HD image by down-scaling an original UHD image; obtaining at least one of a second HD image or a half-resolution UHD image by down-scaling the original UHD; encoding the first HD image; encoding at least any one of the second HD image and the half-resolution UHD image; generating a first transmission stream by multiplexing and synchronizing the encoded first HD image; generating a second transmission stream by multiplexing and synchronizing at least any one of the encoded second HD image and the encoded half-resolution UHD image; transmitting the first transmission stream through a first transmission channel; and transmitting the second transmission stream through a second transmission channel which is distinguished from the first transmission channel.

본 발명은 부가 데이터를 전송하기 위한 중계 장치 및 그 방법에 관한 것으로, 더욱 상세하게는 지상파 디지털 텔레비전 방송의 부가 데이터 전송을 위한 중계 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 일 실시 예에 따른 장치는, 부가 데이터를 포함하는 디지털 방송(DTV) 신호를 중계하기 위한 중계 장치에 있어서, 수신 안테나를 통해 상기 부가 데이터 및 DTV 신호를 수신하여 중간주파(IF) 신호로 하향 변환한 후 IF 신호를 복조하는 수신 처리부와, 상기 수신 처리부에서 복조된 신호에서 잡음 및 다중경로 신호를 제거하여 출력하는 등화부와, 상기 등화부의 출력 신호에서 상기 부가 데이터를 추출하여 출력하는 부가 데이터 추출부와, 상기 등화부로부터 출력된 DTV 신호에 상기 부가 데이터 추출부에서 추출된 부가 데이터를 결합하는 제1가산기와, 상기 제1가산기로부터의 출력 신호를 변조하고, RF 대역으로 상승 변환한 후 증폭하여 송신 안테나를 통해 송신하는 송신 처리부를 포함한다.

A sequence generator(114) generates pseudo-random noise sequence. A selection unit(116) selects polarity about the pseudo-noise sequence. An accumulator(130) accumulatively encodes the interleaved information bit. A second repeater(140) repeats the accumulatively encoded information bit secondary repeat times. PURPOSE: A multi-antenna transmission apparatus for transmitting a terrestrial DTV broadcasting signal and additional data is provided to transmit a terrestrial DTV broadcasting signal and additional data by using multi-antennas. CONSTITUTION: A temporal and spatial mapping unit(202) maps main service symbols generated by a main service symbol generating unit(201) to the plurality of transmission antennas. An additional data symbol generating unit(203) generates additional data symbols for an additional data service. The additional data service may be a service to provided in addition to a DTV broadcast service. A transmission of the additional data provides additional broadcast service in addition to the existing DTV broadcast, and provides data service such as an education service, a stock service, a public announcement service, and the like, in addition to the existing DTV service. In addition, additional information, such as program information, associated with the main service is transmitted. A range of the additional data service may not be limited thereto, and a variety of information may be included. A temporal and spatial encoder(204) performs temporal and spatial encoding of the additional data symbols generated by the additional data symbol generating unit, and generates symbols to be transmitted to the plurality of transmission antennas. PURPOSE: A channel estimation and equalization method and a system are provided to reduce a channel estimation error by inserting a pilot signal into a protection interval of the OFDM symbol and using a sequence included in the pilot signal. CONSTITUTION: In a device, a parallel converter(110) divides and outputs a received signal into a protection section signal and an effective symbol interval signal. A first channel estimator(120) receives the protection section signal, and it estimates an impulse response of channel and outputs it. A channel equalization part(150) equalizes channel distortion of an effective symbol interval signal by using the impulse response value outputted from the first channel estimator, and it outputs the equalized signal. A second channel estimating unit(200) receives the signal outputted from the effective symbol interval signal and the channel equalization part. The second channel estimating unit estimates a frequency response to the effective symbol interval signal and outputs a frequency response of effective symbol interval signal.
