Abstract:
With regard to a surface hardening method that a surface of an engine member is coated with an alloy layer having high abrasive resistance so as to improve life of the member and a production method of a piston or the like that abrasive resistance of the member is improved by the hardening method, a surface of a metal base material is coated uniformly with mixture including metal powder, a binder and solvent so as to form a coat, and the coat is dried and applied thereon with laser or electron beam so as to be sintered and dispersed for forming an alloy layer on a surface of the metal base material and for bonding the alloy layer to the metal base material.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method for providing the assigned surfece of a component of a large machine, especially, a piston head or an exhaust valve disc of two-cycle large diesel engine with a protective coating applied through surface welding, using a simple and low-cost means, so that an economical and nevertheless discreet method can be implemented. SOLUTION: The method is to provide the assigned surface 2 or 14 of the component of the large machine, especially, the piston head or the exhaust valve disc of the two-cycle large diesel engine with a protective coating 4 applied through surface welding, wherein by cooling the component of the large machine to be provided with the protective coating 4 during the process of surface welding, the economical , concurrently discreet method can be implemented. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface hardening method capable of coating the surface of an engine component with an alloy layer excellent in abrasion resistance, thereby extending the service life of the component, and to provide a method for producing a piston or the like improved in abrasion resistance by using the method. SOLUTION: Metal powder, a binder and a solvent are mixed, and the mixture is uniformly applied to the surface of a metal base material, so as to form a coating film. The coating film is dried, is irradiated with a laser or an electron beam, and is subjected to sintering and diffusion, thus an alloy layer is formed on the surface of the metal base material, and further, the alloy layer is joined to the metal base material. Abstract:
A turbocharger wheel (4) and shaft (1) assembly exhibis a frustoconical geometry of welding zone contact surfaces extending to the outer circumference of the shaft (1). This frustoconical geometry not only allows continuous centering of the parts (1, 4) during joining, it also eliminates the problem of stress propagation along a plane. The location of the electron beam is shifted so that only the radially outer segment of the frustoconical contact surface is joined by welding, leaving a radially inner unmelted and unfused zone for maintaining firm contact of the oblique surfaces.
Abstract:
A PTA coating for use on valve seat or valve head contacting surfaces of an internal combustion engine wherein coating is welded by Plasma-Transfer-Arc- welding (PTA), and the coating material is a composite material comprising solid lubricating particles within a metal matrix, the metal matrix being based on heat resistant ferrous or non-ferrous alloys.
