Abstract:
Lubricant composition containing spherical particles of a ceramic material dispersed in a supporting vehicle. The composition is used as a lubricant, metalworking cooling fluid, drilling fluid or drilling mud.
Abstract:
The coefficient of friction of aluminum can surfaces after alkaline cleaning and drying can be substantially reduced by adding to the alkaline cleaner a mobility enhancing additive, preferably a surface active quaternary ammonium salt with hydroxyethyl substituents on the quaternary nitrogen atoms. A can surface suitable for automatic conveying and high quality lacquer or printing ink adhesion can thereby be obtained, if desired without including any substantial fluoride content in any treatment stage.
Abstract:
In the cold drawing of steel tubing, an excellent lubrication which permits drawing the tubing while retaining its original metallic luster can be achieved by first contacting the surfaces of the tubing, both exterior and interior, with a colloidal titanium containing aqueous composition, drying the tubing, and then applying to the surface of the tubing a liquid lubricating composition comprising (i) from 40 to 95% of a first component selected from the group consisting of olefin/oil or olefin/fat compounds which contain from 23 to 30% of sulfur and olefin/higher ester compounds which contain from 23 to 30% sulfur, including mixtures of two or more chemical species meeting this description; and (ii) from 5 to 50% of a second component selected from the group consisting of oil soluble polymer compounds, fats and oils, synthetic oils, mineral oils, higher fatty acids, and the amine salts of higher fatty acids.
Abstract:
Lubricant coating material and its manufacturing method that provide ceramic particulates which are almost spheroidal and fairly hard, or mixture of such particulates and lube oil, as lubricant coating material. This material can be supplied to rotating or rubbing parts of machinery, automobiles and ships. It embeds into metal surface of the parts and forms a thin coating. Thus, it creates ultra-smooth surfaces and reduces friction.
Abstract:
A dispersing agent for use in dispersing a finely divided solid powder in a nonaqueous dispersion medium and a dispersion prepared by using the dispersing agent. The dispersing agent of this invention is a low acid value lanolin fatty acid and/or a salt of the same. By means of this dispersing agent, there can be easily obtained a homogeneous and stable nonaqueous dispersion from which the incorporated solid particles will not separate out or settle even on prolonged standing. Therefore, this dispersing agent can be used advantageously in a broad range of applications such as coatings, dyes, pigments, inks, fuels, lubricating materials and so on.
Abstract:
An improved lubricating oil composition comprising a major amount by weight of oil of lubricating viscosity; a minor amount by weight of solid particles effective to improve the lubricating properties of the composition; and a minor amount of a nitrogen containing mixed ester of a carboxy containing interpolymer. This composition provides improved inhibition of sludge and varnish formation in use.
Abstract:
Metal working operations, especially drawing, are facilitated by applying to the metal a composition which provides lubricity thereto and which melts within the range of about 30.degree.-100.degree. C. The composition comprises at least one neutral ester, and preferably a mixture of esters, prepared from polyalkylene glycols and saturated aliphatic alcohols having at least about 10 carbon atoms, and C.sub.12 -.sub.25 aliphatic monocarboxylic acids and C.sub.4 -.sub.20 aliphatic polycarboxylic acids. The preferred ester mixtures are prepared from polyethylene glycols, C.sub.14 -.sub.20 predominantly straight chain alkanols, stearic acid and adipic, azelaic or sebacic acid. Optional ingredients include phosphorus acid salts and anti-oxidants. The composition may be applied in liquid form and solidifies on cooling to normal ambient and storage temperatures.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to lubricating compositions and, in particular, lubricating compositions suitable for motorcycle applications including select metal dihydrocarbyl dithiophosphates to achieve low copper corrosion, good TBN retention, and good sulfur retention applicable to motorcycle engines and transmissions.
Abstract:
The present invention describes a composition characterized in that the composition comprises a first metal component and particles including a second metal component. Furthermore the present invention describes a lubricant additive composition, a lubricant composition and a grease composition comprising the present composition.
