Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a water-containing lubricant capable of retaining a comparatively large amount of water in the form of transparent dispersion and not susceptible to solidification, prepared by dispersing a water-soluble rust preventive and water in a base lubricating oil by use of several types of surfactants having different HLB values. CONSTITUTION: The lubricant is prepared by mixing (B) 1W100pts.wt. water, (C) 0.1W20pts.wt. water-soluble rust preventive (e.g. cyclohexylamine), (D) 2W 80pts.wt. surfactant having an HLB value of below 6 (e.g. sorbitan monostearate), (E) 2W80pts.wt. surfactant having an HLB value of 6W11 (e.g. sorbitan monolaurate), (F) 2W80pts.wt. surfactant having an HLB value of 11W22 (e.g. polyoxyethylene stearyl ether) and (G) 0.5W80pts.wt. surfactant having an HLB value of 15 or higher (e.g. sodium dodecylbenzene-sulfonate) into (A) 100pts.wt. base lubricating oil. Abstract:
The aim of the invention is to create a mixture for producing green bodies having high green strength and a high compression density, said mixture also helping to reduce the ejection force from the pressing tool. Said aim is achieved by a mixture comprising a metallic and/or plastic material and a pressing aid which contains 25 to 60 percent by weight of a polyglycol and 40 to 75 percent of a montan wax, the percentages being relative to the total quantity of the pressing aid.
Abstract:
A biodegradable penetrating lubricant, comprised of: (A) at least one triglyceride oil of formula (I), wherein R , R , and R are aliphatic hydrocarbyl groups containing from about 7 to about 23 carbon atoms; (B) an organic solvent selected from the group comprising: (1) ethyl lactate; (2) methyl ester; and (3) combinations of 1 and 2; (C) an antioxidant; and, (D) a corrosion inhibitor. Optionally, the lubricant may further an additive selected from the group comprising: (E) a viscosity modifier; (F) an anti-wear inhibitor; and, (G) an emulsifier.
Abstract:
Polypropylene is used as a component of a lubricant/release agent composition in diecasting of metals, with the composition containing the polypropylene finely dispersed in a liquid carrier, for example in an aqueous emulsion; and, a process of diecasting metal parts using said composition.
Abstract:
A waterborne lubricant for the cold plastic working of metals that contains alkali metal salts of dimer(s) and/or trimer(s) of unsaturated fatty acids with from 10 to 24 carbon atoms per molecule has a lubrication performance at least as good as that of prior lubricants, even at generally lower lubricating film weights, has a long bath life, and generates little dust during cold plastic working operations. Even as little as 5 % of these salts of dimer(s) and/or trimer(s) of unsaturated fatty acids, when mixed with conventional alkali metal salts of saturated fatty acids with from 10-24 carbon atoms per molecule, can provide these benefits.
Abstract:
Contact of acid or alkaline cleaned aluminum surfaces, particularly cans, with a water based composition containing a combination of (i) alkoxylated phosphate esters, (ii) ions of aluminum, zirconium, iron, tin, and/or cerium, (iii) a metal etching component, and (iv) a combination of alkoxylated alcohol and alkoxylated alkyl phenol emulsifiers, gives the surface after drying lowered surface friction without loss of high quality printability and lacquer adhesion and removes any brown spotting on the cans that may have developed during the cleaning or post-cleaning rinses. The cans after treatment are substantially free from any water breaks when rinsed with water. The foaming resistance and storage stability of the water based composition as described above, and of other similar surface friction reducing treatments for aluminum containers, may be advantageously increased by adding a biocidal agent, preferably hydrogen peroxide, and a combination of liquid paraffin, solid wax, and a high molecular weight fatty acid derivative(s) as antifoam agent.

Abstract:
A vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoroisobutylene copolymer powder is employed to thicken a conventional fluorine-containing liquid lubricant to provide a grease composition which has improved lubrication character in metal bearing subjected to the simultaneous conditions of high load, high speed and elevated temperature.
