Abstract:
A pneumatic tyre comprises a cord-reinforced layer (10) such as carcass (6), belt (7), bead reinforcing layer which is made of metallic cords, each metallic cord being made up of six to twelve metallic filaments (F) whose diameter (d) is in a range of from 0.15 to 0.45 mm, the metallic filaments (F) including waved filaments (FA) and unwaved filaments (FB), each waved filament (FA) being two-dimensionally waved at a wave pitch (PW) and wave height (h) before twisted, the wave pitch (PW) is in a range of from 5.0 to 35.0 times the diameter (d) of the filament, and the wave height (h) is in a range of from 0.2 to 4.0 times the diameter (d) of the filament, and the metallic filaments are twisted together into the cord at a twist pitch of from 10 to 40 mm so that the two-dimensionally waved filaments (FA) are each subjected to a certain rotation around its axial.
Abstract:
A machine for manufacturing a cord consisting of twisted metallic wires comprises a pair of crimping wheels with meshing toothed surfaces for crimping a plurality of wires when they are passed between said meshing toothed surfaces, and a twisting means for twisting together the wires along a twisting path downstream of the pair of crimping wheels. The pair of crimping wheels is arranged at the beginning of the twisting path and the twisting together of the wires preferably starts between the meshing toothed surfaces.
Abstract:
A band layer in which a band cord is wound around in a spiral manner along a circumferential direction of the tire is provided. The band cord (10) comprises total nine metallic wires (F) including at least five shaped wires (FA), and is formed by twining two to four wire bundles composed of a plurality of said metallic wires twined wile twisting each wire thereof. Each shaped wire is formed in a two-dimensional shape with repeated peaks and troughs in a condition prior to the twisting. The metallic wires of each wire bundle are revolved around the center of the wire bundle while rotating on its own axis through the twining.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tyre comprises a belt (7) disposed radially outside a carcass (6) in a tread portion (2), the belt (7) comprising two crossed plies (7A,7B) of monofilament metallic cords (10A,10B,10C) laid at angles of from 15 to 30 degrees with respect to the circumferential direction of the tyre, each monofilament cord being composed of a waved single filament, the filament having a circular sectional shape having a diameter in a range of from 0.40 to 0.50 mm, or alternatively a non-circular sectional shape having an aspect ratio in a range of from 0.65 to 0.95 and a cross-sectional area in a range of 0.09 to 0.20 sq.mm.
Abstract:
A steel cord for the reinforcement of rubber articles comprises a core (1) comprised of three steel filaments, a first sheath (2) formed by twisting nine wave-formed steel filaments around the core, and a second sheath (3) formed by twisting fifteen wave-formed steel filaments around the first sheath in a direction opposite to the twisting direction of the first sheath, in which a forming ratio F 1 of each filament in the first sheath (2) and a forming ratio F 2 of each filament in the second sheath (3) are within a range of 0. 75-0. 95, respectively, and satisfy F 1 2 . A pneumatic radial tire may comprise a carcass ply (4) comprised of such steel cords.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tyre comprising a carcass (6) extending between bead regions (5) and a belt (9) disposed radially outside the carcass in a tread portion (2), said belt being made of cords (10) embedded in topping rubber (11) at an angle (theta) with respect to the tyre equator, characterised in that each said belt cord (10) comprising four steel monofilaments having the same diameters (d), said diameter (d) being from 0.2 to 0.35 mm, said four steel monofilaments including one or two waved steel monofilaments (12A) and unwaved steel monofilaments (12B), and said four steel monofilaments being compactly twisted together so as to make alternate contact portions and non-contacting portions between each said waved steel monofilament (12A) and the adjacent steel monofilaments.
Abstract:
