An integrated control system comprising an integrated circuit that controls at least one component or subsystem of an engine and a first light source that generates a first light signal when triggered through the integrated circuit. The first light signal propagates from the first light source through an LCC that may also serve as a substrate, wherein the signal that actuates the component of the engine can be the first light signal or a signal generated after the first light signal is produced. The component or subsystem of the engine may be an ignition system or a fuel injection system. The present invention is also directed to a method of controlling a component or subsystem of an engine.

At a time of a movement made by a user viewing a television broadcast program, which is recorded on a hard disk device and read from the hard disk device to enable time shift viewing, and is reproduced at a TV set, the movement of the user is detected via a transmitting and receiving unit to which an electronic key card is held, and a reproduction position on a hard disk is recorded in a memory of a controlling apparatus main unit. A destination of the user is detected via a transmitting and receiving unit to which the electronic key card is held, and the broadcast signal is read from the stored reproduction position on the hard disk and then transferred to an electronic device at the destination, thereby enabling a continuation of the broadcast program that was viewed to be viewed in a room at the destination.

The present invention is provided with an input device for inputting connection information between information processing equipment and information reproduction equipment connected to the information processing equipment, a storage device for storing the connection information and an output device for outputting the connection information; and a control unit having a recognition device for recognizing the connection between the information processing equipment and the information reproduction equipment connected to the information processing equipment, based on the connection information output from the remote control operating unit.
Abstract:
A central power source and method for distributing power to at least one sensor and/or actuators connected to or integrated in an LCC. In an aspect of the invention, a power distribution system is provided comprising a power source, at least one sensor, an LCC structure, and at least one routing means for directing the energy through the LCC structure. In another aspect, the at least one sensor is connected to an LCC bus connected to an electronic system. In still another aspect, an energy storage means for storing the energy received by the at least one sensor is provided. The invention is also directed to a method for distributing power comprising transmitting energy using a power source, directing the energy through an LCC structure, and receiving the energy from the power source using the at least one sensor.

An integrated engine combustion monitoring system that includes at least one structure comprising a light communication channel (LCC) and a sensor, which are embedded in a cylinder head gasket, for monitoring combustion composition, pressure, or temperature. The sensor and the LCC may be positioned between an air cavity or a material comprising a photorefractive gel or polymer. The sensor includes a sensing component that may have various shapes or configurations. The LCC comprises one or more materials, such as a polymer, which may be formed into a strand or other structural shape and incorporated into the cylinder head gasket. The other end of the LCC may be fabricated as part of one or more engine structures or it may be connected to other structures or components such as optical detectors or associated process control electronics.

A method and apparatus for remote control and/or monitoring of a multimedia system includes processing that begins when a hand held device transmits a remote control/monitoring request to a server. The processing continues once a communication path is established between the hand held device and the server by having the server determine remote control and monitoring privileges of the hand held device. If the hand held device has at least a minimum level of remote control and monitoring privileges, the processing continues as the server processes the remote control/monitoring request with respect to at least one client to produce operational monitoring data. The processing continues as the server provides the operational monitoring data to the hand held device via the communication path.

A system for digitization of work processes in a power plant having a gas turbine including at least one processor system having a controller. The processor receives power plant data and the controller preferably controls the gas turbine. At least one interface device is communicatively coupled to the processor system for communicating the data received from the processor system to at least one of a mobile computing system and a computer system carried by a mobile user. The controller is capable of receiving instructions from the mobile user to control the gas turbine. The system further includes a local area network (LAN) in communication with the at least one interface device. At least one antenna assembly having a transceiver system for transmitting and receiving signals from the at least one interface device is provided. A network server system is communicatively coupled to the at least one antenna assembly via a wireless communication network, the server computer including a database for storing application data accessible by the mobile user.

A converged system architecture and method for converging a personal computer with audio/video devices is provided. Wireless communications are transmitted between the personal computer and the audio/video devices. Wireless commands for controlling the audio/video devices are entered remotely at a wireless peripheral and coupled to the personal computer. The personal computer generates signals and the wireless communications are coupled to the audio/video devices in accordance with these signals.
