Abstract:
An image reader is provided, which includes a feeder feeding a document sheet, a first reading sensor, a first reference member, a moving mechanism moving the first reading sensor to a document reading position to read an image of the document sheet and a reference reading position to read an image of the first reference member, and a controller that controls the moving mechanism to move the first reading sensor to the reference reading position, controls the first reading sensor to read the image of the first reference member, and controls the moving mechanism to move the first reading sensor to the document reading position after the first reading sensor reads the image of the first reference member. The controller controls the feeder to start feeding the document sheet to the document reading position before the first reading sensor reaches the document reading position from the reference reading position.
Abstract:
An image reading device includes: a light source irradiating a reading target with light; an image sensor receiving incoming reflection light from the reading target and reading the reading target; a plurality of kinds of white reference plates of mutually different brightness levels provided for acquiring a white reference in shading correction; an input part accepting input of selection, as a mode for document reading, between a character mode prioritizing character reproduction and a photo mode prioritizing figure and photo reproduction; and a shading correction part, when the character mode has been selected, perform the shading correction by defining the white reference based on output of the image sensor when the character-mode white reference plate darker than the photo-mode white reference plate has been read.
Abstract:
A shading device includes: a shading member to pass a conveying path for conveying a recoding medium to plural image reading sections and reach the plural image reading sections; and a moving member to move the shading member between the plural image reading sections and a retracted position on the outside of the conveying path.
Abstract:
An image reading device includes first and second reading units, first and second converting units, and a setting unit. The first and second reading units include N-number of first sub-regions and M-number of second sub-regions, respectively. Each converting unit includes L-number of channels. Each channel converts analog signal into digital signal. When the setting unit sets the double-sided read mode, P-number of first sub-regions are connected to the first converting unit and M-number of second sub-regions are connected to the second converting unit. When the read mode setting unit sets the single-sided read mode, P-number of first sub-regions are connected to the first converting unit and the remaining first sub-regions are connected to the second converting unit. L is greater than or equal to M and smaller than or equal to N. N is smaller than or equal to 2×L.
Abstract:
An image scanning device including: a conveyance path which conveys originals; a first scanning means and a second scanning means which are placed such that they sandwich the conveyance path; and a white reference member used for adjusting the white levels of the scanning means; wherein at least one of the first scanning means, the second scanning means and the white reference member is movable; the first scanning means and the second scanning means can scan the same surface of said white reference member since the first scanning means or the second scanning means is moved or the white reference member is moved.
Abstract:
There is provided an image forming apparatus including a print head adapted to form an image on a recording medium, a transport path for the recording medium, the transport path being provided on at least one of a feed side and a discharge side of the recording medium with respect to the print head, an image reading device provided on the transport path, the image reading device being adapted to read an image formed by the print head, a correction chart provided opposite the image reading device with the transport path interposed therebetween, the correction chart being adapted to correct a reading result of the image reading device, and a distance adjustment device adapted to increase or decrease the distance between the correction chart and the image reading device.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus 4 includes an image reading portion 38 which is unmovably arranged at one side with respect to a document transportation path 30, a white reference member 43 for shading correction which is arranged at the other side with respect to the document transportation path 30, a cover member 50 which is capable of being opened and closed so as to expose or cover the document transportation path 30, and a driving unit 55 which changes a posture of the white reference member 43 between an operating posture at the time of the shading correction and a non-operating posture. The white reference member 43 is attached to the cover member 55. Further, the white reference member 43 and the driving unit 55 are related to each other such that the white reference member 43 is not made into the operating posture in conjunction with an opening operation of the cover member 55.
Abstract:
An image reader includes a loading unit including a first transparent member that has a loading surface on which a document sheet is placed, a reading unit that includes light receiving elements arranged in a first direction under the first transparent member and is configured to move in a second direction parallel to the loading surface and perpendicular to the first direction and to read an image from the document sheet placed on the loading surface by repeating an operation of scanning the document sheet in the first direction with the light receiving elements while moving in the second direction, and a black reference member including a black area that is disposed in a position lower than the loading surface of the first transparent member and higher than the light receiving elements and configured to be read in acquiring black reference data for black level correction.
Abstract:
A method for automatically measuring image quality using a dual optical path image scanner an image production device is disclosed. The method may include receiving a signal to measure image quality, moving a flip-mirror into an optical path of the image scanner, initiating scanning and printing of a test image for measuring image quality, outputting the test image, and measuring image quality based on the output test image.
