Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive electrostatic atomizer allowing variation of arrangement and configuration thereof while suppressing complexity.SOLUTION: The electrostatic atomizer includes a spray portion, a spray electrode electrically connectable to the spray portion, a reference electrode and a power supply device. The reference electrode is disposed so that a substance to be electrostatically sprayed is sprayed from the spray portion when voltage is applied between the spray electrode and the reference electrode. The power supply device can apply voltage between the spray electrode and the reference electrode, monitor electrical properties of the spray portion, and control the voltage applied between the spray electrode and the reference electrode on the basis of the monitored electrical properties of the spray portion and a predetermined indication. In the electrostatic atomizer, the spray electrode and the reference electrode are arranged so that electric charges of the substance sprayed from the spray portion are equilibrated by generation of electric charge whose amount is at least the same as that of the electric charge of the substance and whose polarity is reverse to that of the electric charge of the substance at the reference electrode.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable high fire extinguishing and smoke consuming effect using Coulomb force by securing sufficient charging amount even when a spraying amount is increased, and to widely and uniformly spray a fire extinguishing agent having a large charging amount.SOLUTION: In the event of a fire, a water-based fire extinguishing agent is supplied to a charging spray head 10 installed in protection sections through piping by applying pressure; the fire extinguishing agent injected from the charging spray head 10 is deflected in an arbitrary direction to form a thin film flow 56, and then fragmented and separated into particle group flows 58 for spraying; and an external electric field is applied to the vicinity of the fragmented and separated part P of the thin film flow 58 and charged. The charging spray head 10 includes: a nozzle part 40 that injects a fire extinguishing agent to the outside space; a fire extinguishing agent side electrode part 46 that is arranged inside the nozzle part 40 to come in contact with the fire extinguishing agent; a deflector 42 that, after deflecting the fire extinguishing agent discharged from the nozzle part 40 in an arbitrary direction to form the thin film flow 56, fragments and separates it into the particle group flow 58 for spraying; and an induction electrode part 48 that is arranged near the fragmented and separated part P of the thin film flow 56.
Abstract:
The invention provides an aerosol delivery method and system for producing a charged electrohydrodynamic (EHD) aerosol, discharging the aerosol and moving the discharged aerosol in a desired direction without substantial wetting of the device. The delivery system may include a spray nozzle for dispensing the fluid to be aerosolized and negatively charging the aerosol droplets, a discharge electrode generally downstream of the spray nozzle for generating a positive ion stream which intercepts and electrically neutralizes the negative aerosol droplets while also imparting a desired movement on the aerosol in a direction generally away from the discharge electrode and a reference electrode between the spray nozzle and the discharge electrode for modifying the electric field between the spray nozzle and the discharge electrode.
