Abstract:
A method for providing load reference data in a CDMA system comprises measuring of received total wideband power and of received scheduled enhanced uplink power. State variables are selected corresponding to cell power quantities and measurement functions are selected corresponding to the measured received total wideband power and the measured received scheduled enhanced uplink power. A probability distribution for a first power quantity-related to the selected state variables-is estimated. A conditional probability distribution of a noise floor measure is computed based on the estimated probability distribution for the first power quantity. Load reference data is provided based on the computed conditional probability distribution of the noise floor measure. In a preferred embodiment, the first power quantity is a measure of the difference between received total wideband power and received scheduled enhanced uplink power. The load reference data can be used in e.g. enhanced uplink scheduling or admission control.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a speech encoder comprising: a voice activity detector (VAD) configured to receive speech frames and to generate a speech decision (VAD_flag), a speech/ SID encoder configured to receive said speech frames and to generate a signal identifying speech frames based on the encoder decision (SP), which in turn is based on the speech decision (VAD_flag) and a DTX-hangover period, and a SID-synchronizer configured to transmit a signal (TxType) comprising speech frames, SID frames and No_data frames. The speech encoder further comprises: a signal analyzer configured to analyze energy values of speech frames within the DTX-hangover period, and a DTX-handler configured to adjust the length of the DTX-hangover period in response to the analysis performed by the signal analyzer. The invention also relates to a method for estimating the characteristic of a DTX-hangover period in a speech encoder.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a method and apparatus for facilitating a network, such as an Ethernet LAN, for efficient forwarding of data traffic by collecting neighbor information, generating and distributing link state advertisements, populating a topology database for the network, and calculating trees for each bridge serving as a root bridge. In a preferred embodiment the method and system also prepare one or more backup topologies, and store them for use if they are needed due to a failure condition detected in the network. In a particularly preferred embodiment, probabilities are assigned to various potential failure conditions, and the probability values are used to decide which backup topologies to calculate, store, or use.
Abstract:
Timing parameters and an identity of a particular one of a number of cell groups are indicated in a signal transmitted in a cellular communication system having a radio frame in a physical layer, the radio frame comprising a number of time slots. In a known one of the time slots, a synchronization signal, S1, is transmitted that comprises a pair of sequences (I) arranged in a first ordering. In another known one of the time slots, a synchronization signal, S2, is transmitted that comprises the pair of sequences (II) arranged in a second ordering. The selected pair of sequences is uniquely ident ified with the particular cell group, and the first ordering of the sequences is used only for transmission in the known one of the time slots, and the second ordering of the sequences is used only for transmission in said another known one of the time slots.
Abstract:
Solutions are described that enable a user equipment (UE) for a communication system always to derive required identifiers using an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) even when the UE has only a subscriber identity module. One solution is based on a table, or list, that is maintained in the UE. Another solution is based on always taking a predetermined number of digits of the IMSI. Yet another solution is based on try-and-fail signaling. In consequence, the UE does not always need to know how many digits of the IMSI are used to indicate a mobile network code, which in some situations is impossible to know anyway.

Abstract:
A ''special neighbor'' cell list is broadcast or sent in a dedicated message to mobile radios in a cellular radio communications system. Mobile radios detect the broadcast signal or dedicated message from a serving cell currently serving the mobile radio. Before performing measurements associated with another cell, before sending signals to another cell, or generating a measurement report associated with another cell, the mobile determines from the broadcast signal or dedicated message a special neighbor cell list. Based on the special neighbor list of cells, the mobile radio determines a cell to select, to send signals to, or to generate an associated measurement report related to signals sent from the determined cell. Thereafter, the mobile radio selects, sends signals to, or monitors signals for measurement reporting from the determined cell. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009
Abstract:
A method of video data compression is provided which is comparatively efficient in compressing data, and at the same time enables transmission of compressed data with sufficient robustness to withstand losses in the transmission channel. A frame of data is divided into coded macroblocks and skipped macroblocks which are grouped into respective slices in a sequence of slices. Respective slices are allowed to contain arbitrary numbers of consecutive macroblocks, and can begin and end at arbitrary positions within the frame. A run-length codeword, comprising a small number of bits, is inserted at the end of a slice to indicate the total number of skipped macroblocks between the final coded macroblock and the end of the slice. To further enhance error resilience an additional codeword, which also indicates the total number of skipped macroblocks, may be inserted at the beginning of the next-following slice.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a tunable resonating arrangement comprising a resonator apparatus ( 10 ), input/output coupling ( 4 ) means for coupling electromagnetic energy into/out of the resonator apparatus, and a tuning device ( 3 ) for application of a biasing voltage/electric field to the resonator apparatus. The resonator apparatus comprises a first resonator ( 1 ) and a second resonator ( 2 ). Said first resonator is non-tunable and said second resonator is tunable and comprises a ferroelectric substrate ( 21 ). Said first and second resonators are separated by a ground plane ( 13 ) which is common for said first and second resonators, and coupling means ( 5 ) are provided for providing coupling between said first and second resonators. For tuning of the resonator apparatus, the biasing voltage/electric field is applied to the second resonator ( 2 ).
Abstract:
An arbitration diagnostic circuit and method provide diagnostic information in arbitration-based systems and/or provide detection of and response to excessive arbitration delays. For example, in one embodiment, an arbitration diagnostic circuit maintains a chronological memory trace of arbitration events, including resource request events and corresponding resource grant events for two or more entities having arbitrated access to a shared resource. The trace, which may be regarded as a running, ordered list, may comprise time-stamped event identifiers, which aid the analysis of arbitration related errors or failures. Indeed, in one or more embodiments, an arbitration diagnostic circuit is configured to track elapsed times for resource requests, and to detect resource grant delay violations. Delay violations can be logged, along with the other arbitration state information, and the arbitration diagnostic circuit can be configured to freeze systems or sub-systems responsive to detecting delay violations and/or to capture various state information.
