    Abstract: Methods to enhance the coverage of NR systems for coverage-limited wireless devices are disclosed. A serving base station may configure a coverage-limited UE with parameters for the UE to operate in a coverage enhancement mode through RRC signaling, DCI, or RAR grant. The UE may use the configuration parameters to determine whether to enter into the coverage enhancement mode when connecting and communicating with the serving base station. The configuration parameters may configure the UE to exploit both time diversity and frequency diversity to extend and enhance coverage when receiving the PDSCH and PDCCH channels, when transmitting the PUSCH and PUCCH channel, and when transmitting PUSCH Msg3 during random access. Advantageously, the base station may flexibly and dynamically configure the UE with coverage enhancement parameters to extend the coverage of the UE using time diversity and frequency diversity gains as the UE moves around.

    Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for user equipment device (UE) uplink antenna panel selection. The UE may determine, based on at least one condition, to perform a beam switch from a current beam being used for communications with a base station. The UE may transmit, to the base station, an indication of an antenna panel status that may include an indication of a latency associated with the beam switch. The UE may receive, from the base station, an indication to switch to a target beam and to perform the switch, based on the indication, to the target beam. The indication of the antenna panel status may include a beam switching latency level for each beam in a beam report, a beam switch request that may indicate the target beam, and/or a beam switch request that may indicate that an antenna panel switch is to be applied by the UE.

    Abstract: The implementations disclosed provide apparatus, systems, and methods for channel structure construction for a two-step random access channel (RACH) using a new radio (NR) user equipment (UE) wireless device. The wireless device includes one or more computer processors configured to generate a physical RACH (PRACH) preamble mapped to a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) resource unit. The PRACH preamble is associated with a preamble group indicating a configuration of the PUSCH. The preamble group has a size indicated by radio resource control (RRC) signaling performed by the wireless device. A message is encoded including the PRACH preamble and a payload carried by the PUSCH. The configuration of the PUSCH includes parameters for decoding the message. The wireless device couples communicatively to a base station using the PUSCH. The message is transmitted to the base station. The base station decodes the message based on the parameters of the PUSCH configuration.

    Abstract: The exemplary embodiments relate to a user equipment (UE) performing radio link monitoring of a sidelink. The UE may transmit a signal over the sidelink and receive an indication of a type of hybrid automatic repeating request (HARQ) feedback in response to the signal. The UE may then generate a radio link metric associated with the sidelink based on the type of HARQ feedback. The UE may determine that the radio link metric satisfies a predetermined threshold and initiate a keep alive procedure for the sidelink based on the radio link metric satisfying the predetermined threshold.

The method includes establishing a connection to a network that includes discontinuous reception (DRX) cycles, each DRX cycle including a scheduled OnDuration and a wake up signal (WUS) opportunity corresponding to each of the scheduled OnDurations, when a WUS is received in the WUS opportunity for one of the scheduled OnDurations, configuring the UE to utilize an active mode of processing during the one of the scheduled OnDurations and when a WUS is not received in the WUS opportunity for one of the scheduled OnDurations, configuring the UE to utilize a sleep mode of inactivity during the one of the scheduled OnDurations.
