Abstract: Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform beam failure detection. The UE may establish communication with a base station. The UE may determine one or more beams to perform downlink communication from the base station. The UE may receive, from the base station, an indication of a first type of downlink reference signals to perform beam failure detection. The UE may perform signal quality measurements for the one or more beams using the first type of downlink reference signals. The UE may determine beam failure of at least one beam of the one or more beams based on said performing signal quality measurements.

Abstract: TDD configuration may be dynamically and/or semi-statically signaled to user equipment devices by a base station. Semi-static TDD configuration may include: an initial portion for downlink transmission; a flexible portion; and a terminal portion for uplink transmission. TDD structure of the flexible portion may be determined later by transmission of dynamic physical layer configuration information such as downlink control information (DCI) and/or slot format indicator (SFI). (The SFI may be included in a group common PDCCH of a slot.) The downlink portion and/or the uplink portion may include subsets whose nominal transmit direction is subject to override by transmission of dynamic physical layer configuration information.

Abstract: A device may monitor a first search space (SS) corresponding to an active first component carrier (CC), and detect first control information (CI) that identifies an inactive second CC. In response to receiving the first CI, the device may activate the inactive second CC to make it an active second CC. The device may also set up a second SS corresponding to the active second CC, and may monitor the second SS to schedule the active second CC and receive a physical data channel. The first CI may also include additional scheduling information and a start time for reception of the physical data channel. The device may operate in a first bandwidth part (BWP) according to a first communication configuration associated with the first bandwidth part, and may switch to operating in a second BWP and to operating according to a second communication configuration associated with the second BWP.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform simultaneous uplink activity for multiple RATs in the same carrier using frequency division multiplexing. The wireless device may establish a first wireless link with a first base station according to a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second wireless link with a second base station according to a second RAT. The first base station may provide a first cell operating in a first system bandwidth and the second base station may provide a second cell operating in a second system bandwidth. The wireless device may determine whether the wireless device has uplink activity scheduled according to both the first RAT and the second RAT. If so, the wireless device may perform uplink activity for both the first RAT and the second RAT in the first system bandwidth using frequency division multiplexing.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform a method using a status change of a timer associated with a connected mode discontinuous reception (CDRX) communication session with a base station to trigger a switch from using a first bandwidth part (BWP) to a second BWP as the active BWP for the CDRX communication session. The timer may be an on-duration timer, an inactivity timer, or a retransmission timer. The UE may also alter a monitoring schedule of a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) in response to detecting the status change of the timer. The second BWP may have a wider or narrower bandwidth than the first BWP, depending on the type of timer and the type of status change.

Abstract: A base station and mobile device (UE) may coordinate transmission of reference signals and reception of corresponding channel state information (CSI) reports. If a periodic reference signal is scheduled for transmission outside the on-duration period of the UE, even if the reference signal corresponds to a periodic CSI report scheduled to be transmitted by the UE during the on-duration period, the base station may not transmit the periodic reference signal, thereby allowing the UE not to prematurely exit a low-power state. The base station may instead transmit an aperiodic reference signal at a specified point in time later than the scheduled transmission of the periodic reference signal. The UE may receive the aperiodic reference signal and either transmit the periodic CSI report or an aperiodic CSI report in response, depending on how close to the start of the on-duration period the transmission of the periodic CSI report is scheduled.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to using a wake up signal in conjunction with cellular communication in unlicensed spectrum. A cellular base station may provide a wake up signal on an unlicensed frequency channel after successful completion of a listen-before-talk procedure. The wake up signal may include a preamble configured for coherent detection, and information indicating channel occupancy time for a cellular communication by the cellular base station and a cell identifier for the cellular base station. A wireless device may monitor the unlicensed frequency channel for a wake up signal, and may determine whether to monitor the unlicensed frequency channel for control channel signaling based on whether a wake up signal is received, and potentially also based on the contents of the wake up signal if a wake up signal is received.
