Abstract: The functions of user equipment (UE), radio access network (RAN) devices, and core network (CN) devices in circumstances where a UE is expected to experience discontinuous coverage are described herein. A UE may send a CN a non-access stratum (NAS) message including a release request indicating that a UE is leaving coverage and assistance information. The CN may interrupt paging of the UE and resume the paging according to the assistance information. A UE may enter a low power usage mode upon leaving coverage, and may use one or more timers to determine when to check for coverage and send a mobility update message corresponding to the low power usage mode. A base station may receive, from a UE, a radio resource control (RRC) message comprising a release request and assistance information, send an RRC release message to the UE in response, and forward the assistance information to the CN.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for supporting switching between point to point and point to multipoint delivery with service continuity for broadcast and multicast services in a wireless communication system. A cellular base station and a wireless device may establish a wireless link. The cellular base station may provide information configuring an over the air delivery type with which to receive a broadcast or multicast service, which may be received by the wireless device. The cellular base station may provide information configuring the wireless device to switch to a different over the air delivery type, with service continuity. Abstract: A wireless user equipment (UE) device may transmit a random access preamble to a base station, using a physical resource on an uplink signal. After failing to receive an initial transmission of a response message from the base station (BS), the UE device may monitor for one or more retransmissions of the response message. Each of the retransmission may include a corresponding transmission number. As an alternative, each of the retransmissions may be at least partially scrambled using a corresponding Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI). As another alternative, a window for monitoring and RNTI calculation may be extended to include the one or more retransmissions. The successive retransmissions may include the same set of UE-specific payloads, or, a decreasing set of payloads over time as UE devices acknowledge successful receipt of their respective payloads.

Abstract: Peer devices may wirelessly communicate with each other over a bidirectional sidelink logical channel (LCH) through an established bidirectional sidelink radio bearer. An initiating device of the peer devices may dynamically select a logical channel ID for establishing a fully bidirectional or semi-bidirectional SLRB. At least two alternative sidelink radio resource control (PC5-RRC) procedures may ensure the SLRB parameters are configured correctly in the established logical channel. The procedures also allow the network to configure a limited SLRB which is used to couple the SLRB configuration in the direction in which limited traffic (e.g. feedback information such as robust header compression feedback and/or status reports) is transmitted.
