    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of a flow rate in a valve for controlling and adjusting the flow rate of an artificial respirator. SOLUTION: The artificial respirator includes a housing 11 and a turning valve 12 arranged in the housing so as to turn around a vertical axis of the housing therein. turning of the turning valve allows a through-hole 11d to be fully or partly closed. The turning valve 12 has a conical seal surface 12c, which interacts with a support surface 11f of the housing 11 correspondingly composed, and the through-hole 11d is arranged in an area of the seal surface 12c. The turning valve 12 is proportionately driven by an actuator, preferably by a stepping motor 17. The through-hole 11d is surrounded by a seal edge 11e on a side of the turning valve 12, and the height of the seal edge gradually increases toward a closing direction of the valve.
