Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of managing a recording medium properly.SOLUTION: A program for implementing functions of managing a recording medium in an electronic device, includes a recording medium management module 146 that includes: a function to acquire an upper limit to the number of recording media registered in the electronic device; and a function to register the recording medium in which the program is installed in the electronic device such that the acquired upper limit is not exceeded. The recording medium management module 146 may link date and time information to a recording medium identifier identifying the recording medium in which the program is installed, and register the information and the identifier as linked in a management database used to manage the recording medium.
Abstract:
A demonstration video game permits garners a more complete game experience while promoting a desire to acquire permission to continue playing. In some embodiments, a video game is implemented with trigger metrics. While a user may initially experience most or all of the full version of the game in a demonstration mode, the mode implements trigger metrics to erode game play characteristics, such as character, object, event and/or environmental features, during video game play in the demonstration mode. Thus, fewer play characteristics may be available as play continues in this mode. Multiple trigger metrics may gradually and successively limit play characteristics as play with the game continues. As the gamer loses functionality, the user may be prompted with the trigger metrics to purchase permission to continue the game in a non-demonstration mode that disables the trigger metrics and returns the game to the more complete version.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for controlling access to a multi-purpose entertainment console are disclosed. The methods and systems allow a first user to configure the amount of time per time interval a console is available for other users to access the entertainment features of the console. In one embodiment, when a timer is activated, the timer counts down as the console is used. The console provides a series of notifications that the timer is running low and a notification when time has expired. The user may then turn off the console or ask the first user to add more time. In another embodiment, the timer can be configured with daily or weekly limits. In further embodiments, the timer and system clock may be protected by a security code to prevent tampering. In a further embodiment, the system clock can be referenced for the automatic daily/weekly time allocation to be allocated.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system in which wireless communication devices communicate with each other. SOLUTION: In a system in which a first wireless communication device and a second wireless communication device communicate through wireless communication, the first wireless communication device includes an acceptor that accepts identification information of the second wireless communication device, a controller 110 that if the acceptor accepts the identification information, registers the accepted identification information in a storage, and a calling part 118 that pages the second wireless communication device. After the identification information is registered in the storage, the calling part 118 calls the second wireless communication device using the registered identification information. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optionally control a user of an external connection device by setting a use restriction to the external connection device. SOLUTION: In a second device 11 including a connection part of a first device 201 and a connection part of a display section 32, a restriction information storage section 231 is provided for storing restriction information optionally set for an operating time or operating contents of the first device. Further, there are provided an operation monitoring section 232 for monitoring the operating time or operating contents on the basis of the restriction information, and a user control section 233 for making a notification when it becomes a condition to restrict the operating time or operating contents during monitoring performed by the operation monitoring section. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system in which a storage medium can be used even by other information processing apparatus while achieving copy protection by associating the storage medium with the information processing apparatus. SOLUTION: A storage medium is provided with an ID registration region for recording a main body ID unique to an information processor. Also, the main body ID is stored in the information processor. Also, the information processor is provided with a copy means for copying a program in the storage medium when the main body ID is not registered when the storage medium is mounted. In copying, the main body ID is recorded in the ID registration region of the storage medium. Also, the information processor is provided with an execution program selection means for selecting a program to be executed from the copied program and the program in the storage medium.
