Abstract: A refuse vehicle comprises a chassis, a body assembly, and a refuse interaction mechanism. The body assembly is coupled to the chassis and defines a refuse compartment configured to store refuse material. The refuse interaction mechanism comprises a refuse interaction element, an electrically driven actuator, and an impulse generator. The refuse interaction element is configured to selectively apply a force onto the refuse material within the refuse compartment. The electrically driven actuator is configured to selectively move the refuse interaction element between the receiving position and the force-exerting position. The impulse generator is configured to selectively apply linear impulse to the refuse interaction element.

Abstract: A refuse vehicle includes a chassis, a cab coupled to the chassis, a refuse compartment supported by the chassis and including a storage volume and a hopper volume, a lift assembly configured to selectively move relative to the refuse compartment, a hopper sensor coupled to a portion of the refuse compartment and configured to measure a refuse height within the hopper volume, and a packing assembly including a pack panel and a packing actuator. The packing actuator is configured to selectively move the pack panel between a retracted position and an extended position. The pack panel is configured to extend away from the retracted position in response to the hopper sensor sensing that the refuse height is greater than or equal to a refuse height threshold.

Abstract: An ejector for a refuse vehicle including a structural frame, a first shoe, and a second shoe. The structural frame includes a first side plate offset from a second side plate, and the distance between the first side plate and the second side plate defines a side plate spacing. The first shoe is coupled to the first side plate and includes a first surface configured to interface with a first ejector track. The second shoe is coupled to the second side plate and includes a second surface configured to interface with the second ejector track. A lateral spacing between the first surface and the second surface is less than or equal to the side plate spacing such that loading imparted on the structural frame is transmitted directly into the first ejector track and the second ejector track.

Abstract: A refuse vehicle includes a chassis and a body assembly. The chassis includes a cab positioned at one end of a frame. The body assembly includes a plurality of panels configured to contain a volume of refuse therein, a ramp, and an ejector. The plurality of panels define a longitudinal direction, a hopper volume and a storage volume, the ramp is disposed within the hopper volume, and the ejector is configured to fully eject refuse from the storage volume. The ejector includes a wall at least partially defining an opening within a plane and a panel pivotally coupled to the wall. The panel is selectively rotatable relative to the wall between a closed position and an open position, the panel spanning the opening when selectively rotated into the closed position and angularly offset relative to the plane of the opening when selectively rotated into the open position.

Abstract: An improved front loading or side loading refuse collection body includes an ejector panel which is moveable from a position immediately adjacent the front end of the storage compartment of the refuse collection body to a second position at the open rear end of the storage compartment. A compaction blade in a compaction chamber adjacent the front end of the storage compartment is independently driven by a second hydraulic ram. The ejector panel has an opening which is in registry with the compaction blade such that refuse propelled by the compaction blade moves into the storage compartment when the ejector panel is positioned adjacent the front end of the storage compartment.
