Abstract:
The instant invention provides an aqueous dispersion, a coating composition, coating layers and coated article made therefrom. The coating composition according to the present invention comprises: (1) the inventive aqueous dispersion comprising the melt blending product of: (a) from 50 to 99 percent by weight of one or more first polyesters, based on the total solid content of the dispersion, wherein said one or more first polyesters have an acid number in the range of from less than 15, for example less than 10, or in the alternative less than 5, based on the total solid content of the one or more first polyesters; (b) from 1 to 50 percent by weight of one or more stabilizing agents comprising at least one second polyester, based on the total solid content of the dispersion, wherein said second polyester has a carboxylic acid group and an acid number equal to or greater than 15, for example greater than 20, based on the solid content of the second polyester; (c) one or more neutralizing agents; and (d) from 15 to 90 percent by weight of water, based on the total weight of the dispersion; wherein said dispersion has a solid content of 10 to 85 percent, based on the total weight of the dispersion; and (2) one or more cross-linking agents.
Abstract:
Polymeric composites and methods of manufacturing polymeric composites are described. In one embodiment, a set of microcapsules containing a phase change material are mixed with a dispersing polymeric material to form a first blend. The dispersing polymeric material has a latent heat of at least 40 J/g and a transition temperature in the range of 0°C to 50°C. The first blend is processed to form a polymeric composite. The polymeric composite can be formed in a variety of shapes, such as pellets, fibers, flakes, sheets, films, rods, and so forth. The polymeric composite can be used as is or incorporated in various articles where a thermal regulating property is desired.

Abstract:
A thermosetting resin composition which is improved in impact resistance, thermal crack resistance, resistance to oxidative deterioration, and resistance to thermal deterioration while retaining intact heat resistance represented by HDT and which is suitable for use in encapsulating semiconductors, etc. The thermosetting resin composition comprises (A) a thermosetting resin and (B) a liquid polybutene containing an aldehyde group and optionally contains (C) a hardener added thereto, wherein the main component of the liquid polybutene has an aldehyde structure at an end and the backbone thereof has a structure in which 80% or more of the repeating units have a structure represented by the formula (I). The impact resistance and thermal crack resistance are attained by making the thermosetting resin composition give a cured resin which has a phase structure comprising a continuous phase consisting mainly of the thermoset resin and, present therein, a micrometer-order dispersed phase consisting mainly of an ingredient derived from the liquid polybutene containing an aldehyde group.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an oxygen scavenger composition comprising a mixture of (i) a polyester polymer composed of polymer segments containing cycloalkenyl group or functionality; and (ii) an ester type polymer selected from (a)a polyester having a high content of alkylene groups; (b) a polylactone; and (c) a polyvinylacetate having at least about 50 weight percent vinyl acetate mer units therein. The present polymer composition has been found to act as an oxygen scavenger agent under both ambient and refrigerated conditions, to be compatible with conventional film forming packaging materials, to provide compositions exhibiting low tack, and to be capable of being readily processed using conventional film forming equipment.
Abstract:
A flame retardant thermoplastic composition having excellent physical properties comprises about 20 to about 90 wt.% of a polycarbonate resin; up to about 35 wt.% of an impact modifier; about 0.5 to about 30 wt.% of a polysiloxane-polycarbonate copolymer comprising about 8 to about 30 wt.% polydimethylsiloxane units or the equivalent molar amount of other diorganosiloxane units; and about 0.5 to about 20 wt.% of a phosphorus-containing flame retardant, each based on the total combined weight of the thermoplastic composition, exclusive of any filler. In one embodiment a sample of the thermoplastic composition having a thickness of 2.5 mm (± 10%) achieves a UL94 5VA rating Thinner samples may also achieve this rating. The compositions are useful in forming flame retardant thin-walled articles.
