Abstract:
(1) A graft copolymer latex obtained by the copolymerization of a rubbery diene polymer latex with an aromatic vinyl monomer and an acrylic monomer is mixed with (2) a copolymer latex having a glass transition point of -40.degree. to 10.degree. C. and a volume-average particle size of at least 0.5.mu. obtained by the copolymerization of an olefin with a vinyl ester of a fatty acid while they are maintained in the form of latex to precipitate a solid resin, whereby a thermoplastic resin composition is obtained. The total solid resin contains at least 11 wt. % of the rubbery diene polymer and at least 1 wt. % of the copolymer of olefin/vinyl ester of fatty acid.
Abstract:
A synthetic resin emulsion containing an acetoacetylated polyvinyl alcohol as a protective colloid, which has improved properties such as water resistance, freeze-thaw stability, stability at low temperatures, adhesive property and high viscosity even in low solid content. The emulsion is useful for various purposes such as adhesive, paper treating agent, paint, fiber and textile treating agent and cement modifier.
Abstract:
A water impervious surfacing composition which includes cement and sand and a mixture of an aqueous coal tar emulsion and an aqueous polyvinyl acetate emulsion.
Abstract:
A POLYMERIC SURFACTANT THICKENER COMPRISING A COPOLYMER OF AN ESTER OF AN ALKYLARYLPOLYETHER ALCOHOL, SUCH AS AN ALKYLPHENOXYPOLYETHYLENEOXYETHANOL, WITH AN UNSATURATED CARBOXYLIC ACID COMPOUND, SUCH AS ACRYLIC OR METHACRYLIC ACID, AND AN UNSATURATED ACID COMPOUND, WHICH COPOLYMER COMPRISES FROM ABOUT 70 TO 95% OF THE ESTER AND FROM ABOUT 5 TO 30% OF THE UNSATURATED CARBOXYLIC ACID, AND WHICH COPOLYMER CONTAINS FROM ABOUT 20 TO 100 OXYETHYLENE GROUPS. THE POLYMERIC SURFACTANT THICKENER IS PARTICULARLY USEFUL IN THICKENING POLYMERIC LAXTEX COMPOSITIONS, SUCH AS CARBOXYLATED STYRENE-BUTADIENE LATEX CONTAINING FILLER MATERIAL.

An aqueous polymer composition which when in the form of a film shows excellent elongation at break comprising (i) 5 to 30 wt. % of polyurethane where the acid value of the polyurethane is between 3 to 40 mg KOH/g; (ii) 70 to 95 wt. % of vinyl polymer comprising 20 to 90 wt. % of vinyl polymer with Tg
Abstract:
The present invention provides low tack, low temperature flexible aqueous caulk or sealant compositions comprising multistage aqueous emulsion copolymers having a hard stage and a soft stage, the soft stage including, in copolymerized form, one or more nonionic monomers and (i) methacrylic acid (MAA) or a salt thereof and a second acid monomer having a lower pKa than methacrylic acid or a salt thereof, or (ii) a copolymer having a mixture of acid or salt groups and hydroxyl groups, the acid groups chosen from, in copolymerized form, MAA and the second acid monomer, or salts thereof; and the hard stage having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) against polystyrene standards of from 20,000 to 70,000.
Abstract:
Provided is a vibration damping composite capable of providing a vibration damping material, at low cost, that exhibits a high vibration damping property in a wide temperature range and has excellent appearance. The present invention relates to a resin composition for vibration damping materials which contains a lignin and/or a lignin derivative. The present invention also relates to a vibration damping composite containing the resin composition for vibration damping materials and an inorganic pigment. The present invention also relates to a vibration damping material obtainable from the vibration damping composite.
