Curable composition comprising a stable, water dispersible, curable polymer containing a sterically hindered alkoxylated silane group at 0.1 to 75 weight percent of the total composition; a water dispersible or water soluble, hydrolytically stable organometallic catalyst, at 0.1 to 10 weight percent of the total composition; and water at 99.8 to 24.9 weight percent of the total composition are taught herein. These compositions are useful as adhesives, sealants and paints. The compositions have improved properties including solvent resistance, adhesion, hardness, abrasion resistance and mar resistance. Particular catalysts for use herein include dihydroxy bis [2-hydroxypropanato (2-)-O ,O ] titanate mixed titanium ortho ester complexes, acetylacetonate chelate, bis(ethyl-3-oxobutanolato-O ,O ) bis(2-propanolato) titanium, alkanolamine complex of titanium and mercaptoalcohol, mercaptide or sulfide forms of diorganotins having either a Sn-S or Sn=S bond.

Abstract:
A composition suitable for the production of protective coatings, especially for the inhibition of fouling, more particularly in marine environments, which comprises: (A) a polymer carrying pendant and/or terminal curable functional groups, at least a major proportion of the repeating units in the polymer of (A) being other than siloxane units, and (B) a curable organohydrogen polysiloxane or polydiorganosiloxane, the curable functional groups in component (A) being capable of undergoing a condensation curing reaction with component (B), and normally also a solvent and a curing catalyst. The compositions provide coatings having good adhesion and mechanical durability, and require only moisture curing at ambient temperature.

The present invention relates to a coating composition system for treating articles, comprising at least a first and at least a second composition, characterized by a) said first coating composition comprising a silane containing component and optionally a reactive diluent, wherein the first coating composition has a viscosity of about 0.05-10 mPa s; b) said second coating composition comprising a waterborne dispersion, and optionally a crosslinker. The present invention further relates to uses, articles, and a kit thereof, and a method of application.

An erodible antifouling coating composition for application, for example,to ship's hulls to potentially prevent the adhesion and build up of fouling agents on the hull is described. The coating composition comprises an erodible binder system excluding a triorgano tin based binder; optionally, one or more antifouling agents; and at least one silicone oil.A process for producing the composition, a substrate coated with the composition, and a process of coating a substrate with the composition are also described.

The present invention relates to a method of preparing moisture-curable silylated polymers by reacting amino- or carboxy-containing polymers with methylenehydrocarbyloxysilanes, and to the compositions formed thereby. In particular, the inventive compositions possess fast moisture-curable capabilities. Illustrative of the compositions of the present invention are those including a polymer of Formula (I).

A curable film-forming coating composition, typically a clearcoat, having improved compatibility over waterborne and solventborne basecoats. The composition includes a film-forming binder comprising a carbamate material, a curing agent, typically a monomeric melamine curing agent, and a hydroxy functional silane component. When used as a clearcoat over a standard pigmented basecoat, the resulting coating provides a substantially wrinkle free appearance and excellent adhesion to both waterborne and solventborne basecoats.
