Abstract:
The present invention provides an anti-seizure agent for hot steel working comprising: an inorganic component as a first component; sodium hydroxide as a second component; water-soluble resins and/or water-soluble surfactants as a third component; and water, wherein, to the mass of the sum of the first component, the second component, and the third component as 100 mass %, the anti-seizure agent contains: 96.5 mass % or more and 99.98 mass % or less of the first component; 0.01 mass % or more and 2. 0 mass % or less of the second component; and 0.01 mass % or more and 1.5 mass % or less of the third component, and the inorganic component is one or more selected from a group consisting of Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 , CaO, B 2 O 3 , K 2 O, and Na 2 O. This anti-seizure agent for hot steel working exhibits excellent wettability and surface firm-adherability to the steel; moreover, the coating layer formed after application solidly adheres to the steel and does not come off in the environment of both cold and hot working.
Abstract:
A grease composition for use as a cable filling material which contains about 25 to 75 parts by weight of castor oil or a ricinoleate polyol, about 13 to 71 parts by weight of a hydroxy-terminated polymer of polymerized castor oil or the reaction product of a polyisocyanate compound and castor oil or a ricinoleate polyol, and about 4 to 12 parts by weight of colloidal particles such as silica, clay or mixtures thereof. Optionally, an antioxidant component can be added to impart high temperature resistance, a bleed inhibitor, typically of a rubber component, can be added to improve bleed resistance, a water blocking agent of a superabsorbent compound can be added to reduce water transmission, microspheres can be added to reduce the weight of the formulation, and/or conventional additives such as fungicides, bacteriocides etc. can be included. The invention also relates to an article of manufacture such as a cable having a sheath surrounding a plurality of optical fibers therein, with one of the grease compositions of the invention located therein.
Abstract:
A lubricant to be sprayed onto the surface of a steel material for forming a lubricant coat on the surface of the steel material to be forged. The lubricant comprises a particulate lubricant composed of thermally melting resin mixed with inorganic lubricant. The particulate lubricant is applied onto the surface of a steel material to be forged. Before or after applying the particulate lubricant onto the surface of the steel material, the surface of the steel material is heated. Consequently, the thermally melting resin melts and coheres with the inorganic lubricant over the surface of the steel material, resulting in the formation of a uniformly thick lubricant coat over the steel material. The lubricant coat prevents the steel material from being burnt in a forging device even during hot forging. The lubricant coat is fit for the forging of hard to work steel material. The lubricant coat also contributes to the decrease in forging cost, without deteriorating the forging environment.
Abstract:
A carrier-free pulverulent metalworking lubricant composition. In one form, the composition contains from 2 to 30% by weight sulfur and at least one component having adhesive properties at forging temperatures, the composition being formed by a method comprising the steps of: (a) forming a dry mixture of said particulate lubricant components, and (b) agglomerating said admixture to form agglomerated particles. The application of the composition as a metal working lubricant significantly reduces smoke and oily waste generation in hot forging operations by eliminating the use of oils or volatile organic compounds as carriers, while providing acceptable performance, cleanability and sprayability.
Abstract:
The composition of the present invention is a carrier-free pulverulent forging lubricant having at least one component having adhesive properties at forging temperatures and the method of the invention is a method of forging a workpiece in a die which includes the step of spraying onto at least one of the die and the workpiece a coating of an effective amount of a carrier-free pulverulent lubricant composition at ambient pressure. The use of the composition and method of the invention significantly reduces smoke generation in hot forging operations by eliminating the use of oils or volatile organic compounds as carriers.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A self-lubricating composite material is disclosed. The self-lubricating composite material can include discontinuous polymer fiber segments dispersed within a woven matrix of semi-continuous thermoplastic fiber. The woven matrix can be embedded within a thermosetting resin. Also disclosed are methods of manufacturing the self-lubricating composite material.
