Abstract:
A modular flooring system includes a plurality of floor tiles situated about a ground surface, with each floor tile having a substantially-flat top surface and a connection interface with opposing engagement surfaces. The flooring system also includes a plurality of removable bridge connectors, with each of the bridge connectors having a plurality of tile interfaces, and with each tile interface having complimentary engagement surfaces configured to engage with the opposing engagement surfaces of the connection interfaces. The tile interfaces of the bridge connectors couple to the respective connection interfaces of any adjacent floor tiles to restrain the relative vertical movement between the adjacent floor tiles while facilitating controlled relative lateral movement between the floor tiles.
Abstract:
An impact absorption panel is adapted for playground use and comprises a panel section and a plurality of projections. The panel section is defined by a top surface and a bottom surface. The plurality of projections extend from the bottom surface of the panel section. The plurality of projections have a first stage and a second stage. The first stage is configured to collapse initially when subjected to an impact load. The second stage is configured to provide greater resistance to the impact load than the first stage. The panel section is configured to provide greater resistance to the impact load than the first and second stages. The first stage can also be distinguished from the second stage by virtue of having a comparatively smaller volume.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a synthetic ice surface system comprising a first synthetic ice panel having a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface having at least one expansion groove having a length dimension and a height dimension, a second synthetic ice panel having a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface having at least one expansion nub having a length dimension and a height dimension, wherein the expansion groove is disposed along the side surface of the first synthetic ice panel so as to engage with the expansion nub on the side surface of the second synthetic ice panel such that the movement of the first synthetic ice panel relative to the second synthetic ice panel is inhibited.
Abstract:
A multi-layered sports playing field including a top layer made of substantially artificial material simulating a natural playing surface such as grass and a padding layer positioned between the top layer and the base or dirt layer. The padding layer is made of a plurality of discrete beads of substantially elastic, resilient material (e.g., foam) with portions of adjacent beads abutting one another and other portions being spaced from each other. Substantially all of the adjacent beads are preferably integrally joined (e.g., glued, fused) together at their abutting portions. The padding layer is very porous and breathable and preferably includes feet members supporting the main body of the padding layer above the base or dirt layer to create a water channel of interconnected portions to enhance water drainage to the sides of the field.

Abstract:
Floor mats comprising two layers bonded together with an undulating boundary between them. The surface color and/or surface texture of the first layer being different from the surface color and/or surface texture of the second layer. The mats having an interlocking periphery boundary adapted so the mats can be interlocked with adjoining mats to form a continuous planar mat flooring.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an artificial stone floor element with a basic shape that corresponds to the combination of a plurality of square basic elements, especially to an angular floor element. The floor element includes projections and recesses along its peripheral sides of the basic element when seen from the center of the respective top face of the basic element is substantially point-symmetric with respect to its mid-point. The inventive floor element is further characterized in that the profile consists of three projections and three recesses.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for constructing an articulating pavement comprising the placement in a first layer of a multiplicity of identically shaped foundation units on a subsurface. Each of the foundation units in the first layer is interlocked with adjacent foundation units in the first layer. Overlaid upon the first layer is a second layer of identical foundation units each of the foundation units in the second layer interlocked with adjacent units in the second layer. The units are shaped to create cavities between the first layer and second layer and between adjacent units in the first and second layers. Sufficient cement is then injected through orifices in the units to substantially fill the cavities. The cement is allowed to harden sufficiently to form latch pins which secure the units in an interlocked arrangement and articulatable in both the horizontal and vertical directions.
