Abstract:
A connection assembly, for connecting a tool to a tube, having a top sub-assembly that can be passed over a tube, a gripper to grip the outside of a tube when compressed, a sealing ring, adapted to seal against the end face of the tube, a bottom sub-assembly having an abutment face for the sealing ring; and where the two sub-assemblies can be held together to trap the gripper between them. The invention also proves a method for joining a connection assembly to the end of a tube by locating a top sub-assembly around the tube; abutting a sealing ring between the end face of the tube and a bottom sub-assembly; locating a gripper around the tube between the two sub-assemblies and applying a compressive load to them to effect a seal between the tube and the bottom sub-assembly, and to cause said gripper to grip the outer surface of the tube. The two subassemblies are then held together, trapping the gripper between them. The compressive load may then be released.
Abstract:
In a tubular threaded joint composed of a pin 1 and a box 2 each having a contact surface comprising a threaded portion and an unthreaded metal contact portion including a seal portion and a shoulder portion, a solid lubricating coating 10 having a relatively high Knoop hardness is formed on a portion including the shoulder portion of the contact surface (such as the unthreaded metal contact portion including the shoulder portion and the seal portion) of at least one of the pin and the box, and a solid lubricating coating 11 having a relatively low Knoop hardness is formed at least on the remaining portion of the contact surface (such as the threaded portion). The tubular threaded joint has excellent galling resistance, gas tightness, and rust preventing properties, and since it has a large ΔΤ, it does not readily undergo yielding of shoulder portions even when it is made up with a high torque, thereby making it possible to perform makeup in a stable manner.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a method and apparatus for providing a bulkhead fitting (110) assembly useful for aircraft, watercraft, spacecraft, architectural, or industrial applications. The assembly provides a mechanical barrier against fluid transfer from a wet side to a dry side of a bulkhead (108) and allows electrical conduction through or from the bulkhead (108). The assembly includes a thermal shell (118) for reducing heat transfer from a tube (116) to the bulkhead (108).
Abstract:
A process for treating a pin having an external threaded portion (12) and a box (20) having an internal threaded portion (22) wherein the process provides a threadable joint having a high galling resistance. One embodiment of the present invention includes applying a lubricant on the threaded portion of at least one of the pin (10) and box (20). The threadable joint is made up by threadably engaging the threaded portions of the pin and box to a recommended torque according to the American Petroleum Institute and then breaking out the threaded joint. The making up and breaking out step with lubricant applied on the threaded portion of at least one of the pin and box is performed a plurality of times. One of the threaded portions of the pin and box is then case hardened. The threadable joint made from this process is highly resistant to galling without the requirement of any lubricant.
Abstract:
A sealing connection assembly for fluid-tightly sealing of a first tubular part (1) to a second tubular part (2), wherein the sealing connection assembly comprises a first locking element (3) being adapted to at least partly enclose said first tubular part (1) and comprising at least one gripping element (5), a second locking element (4) being adapted to at least partly enclose said second tubular part (2). The sealing connection assembly is characterized in that said at least one gripping element (5) of said first locking element (3) is adapted to sealingly engage said second locking element (4) thereby locking said first tubular part (1) and said second tubular part (2) together, and in that said sealing connection assembly further comprises a resilient washer (6) arranged between said first locking element (3) and said second locking element (4), said resilient washer (6) being adapted to apply a force between said first locking element (3) and said second locking element (4) in an axial direction of the sealing connection assembly when locked together.
Abstract:
Bracket (1 ) for pipe profiles including a body with a center hole (1a) for enclosing a pipe profile (10) in the center hole (1a) where the body includes at least two non elastic bracket parts (2) with internal surfaces (2a) towards the center hole (1a) and external surfaces (2b) and where the bracket parts' (2) internal surfaces (2a) include at least two radial spokes (3) with spoke end surfaces (3a) for contact against the pipe profile (10), where there is placed a ring shaped elastic gasket (4) around each spoke end surface (3a), which together with the spoke end surfaces (3a) has contact against the pipe profile (10). The invention also includes use of the bracket for mounting pipe profiles. The bracket has a shape, which ensures hygienic tight connection between bracket and pipe profile and the pipe profile is mechanically supported. The bracket can therefore be used in environments with high hygiene requirements, for example in the foodstuff industry.

Abstract:
An insulating collar for a gap sub assembly for electromagnetic (EM) telemetry used in downhole drilling is disclosed. The gap sub assembly comprises a female member comprising a female mating section and a male member comprising a male mating section and a gap section. The male mating section is matingly received within the female mating section and electrically isolated therefrom. The insulating collar is positioned on the gap section. The collar is made up of a framework with a plurality of discrete bodies spaced about the framework and a portion of each of the discrete bodies protrudes above the framework. Either the framework or the discrete bodies are made of an electrical insulator material to electrically isolate one end of the collar from the other end of the collar. The collar therefore electrically isolates the male member from the female member and the male member, female member and insulating collar function as the "gap sub" for EM telemetry.
