Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a respiratory system heaters. SOLUTION: A humidification system is provided with a controller (54) having two processors (150, 152) that monitor the operation of each other and of heating elements (34, 36, 56) in the respiratory system to provide CPU redundancy and heating element control. Each heating element is provided with two control paths (74, 142; 77, 146; 79, 146), for example a relay (140 or 144) and a triac (88) connected in series with the heating element and a power supply (90). Each heater has one control path connected to a first processor (150) and one heating element has at least one control path connected to a second controller (152). A hardware watchdog (100) monitors the operation of the first processor, and can be triggered by a signal from the second processor, in response to which it can disable all heating elements. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety package that is both convenient to use and transport, to provide a safety package that can keep sterilized state, and to provide a safety package having different locking mechanism, which fixedly retains a housing at a desirable position to envelop a needle. SOLUTION: A sheath 40 temporarily fixes a position 46 to a base 4 in a condition where a needle is fit into the sheath 40 and tightly fit into the base 4 via a screw 17 during transportation. As far as a tongue shape part 44 is pushed back by the distal end 19 of the base 4, the sheath 40 is retained in a same relative position. Consequently, when the sheath 40 is rotated, a hub 12 is automatically loosened by cooperation movement of a projecting part 50 of the sheath 40 with a partition wall 21 of the hub 12 and biasing force acting between the tongue shape part 44 and the distal end 19 and separated from the sheath 40. Once the hub 12 is rigidly or sufficiently seated, the sheath 40 may be easily detached from the hub 12 when the sheath 40 is straightly pulled by slight force to prevent the inside of the sheath 40 from being into contact with the tip end of the needle 14. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a respiratory apparatus equipped with a nepulizer which introduces an auxiliary gas into an atomizing head without affecting the rate of medicament application to a nepulizer user by the respiratory apparatus. SOLUTION: In an improvement of nebulizer respiratory apparatus, the auxiliary gas can be introduced into the atomizing head 10 in a position where a liquefaction medicament is subdivided or atomized, the rate of application of the atomized liquefaction medicament to the user is not affected by the auxiliary gas introduction, and a gas mixture to be administered to a patient is added to the respiratory apparatus 1000 in a position apart from a nonrebreathing mask 500 where this gas mixture is administered to the patient. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide underbody blanket that warms the head, as well as the body of the patient, wherein the warm air circulates about the blanket to maintain an even temperature throughout, and when output from the blanket, is focused to the patient.SOLUTION: A convective underbody blanket has a head portion 10 and a body portion 12. Provided at the head portion is a non-inflatable head area 14 surrounded by a channel 18 that has arranged thereat at least one row of air apertures 22, 22', 22", 24, and 24' that are oriented toward the non-inflatable head area when the channel is inflated. At the body portion, there is provided a non-inflatable body area 26. Along each longitudinal side of the body area, there are longitudinal channels 28a, 28b, 30a, and 30b. Each of the longitudinal channels is in fluid communication with the channel that surrounds the non-inflatable head area. The longitudinal channels that sandwich the non-inflatable body area extend substantially along the length of the non-inflatable body area and are in communication with each other by way of a cross channel 36 formed at the foot end of the blanket.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle protection device with a mechanism which nonremovably holds a needle in a secured relationship of a housing and a base of a needle assembly based on cooperation while the needle is being fixedly secured by a hook mechanism in the housing.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to the needle assembly including the base 2 and the housing 4 which is pivotally connected to the base 2 via a living hinge 6. An injection needle 8 is attached to the end part 10 of the base 2. The injection needle 8 may be integrated with the distal end 12 of the base 2 by molding, or may be attached to the distal end 12 after a safety device is removed from a molding. A base end part 14 of the base 2 is designed to have a cavity. The cavity is engaged with a syringe or other liquid storage devices. A lure connector 16 is formed in the base 2.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle guard for protecting a user and others from a sharp distal end of a needle after pulling out from a patient.SOLUTION: A safety catheter device includes: a catheter hub 220; a catheter tube 226; a needle hub; a needle 52; a housing 230 adapted to slidably receive the needle shaft 56. In the device, the needle shaft is held in the second position in the housing 230 by a functional member gripping the needle shaft 56, the housing 230 includes a pair of cooperating members 250, 252 extending to distal ends toward distal ends, a passageway 258 is formed between the cooperating members, a portion of the passageway 258 extending between the distal ends, and the passageway 258 is nominally sized along its length to slidably receive the needle shaft 56 freely therethrough.
