    Abstract: An elastic film comprising a polymer blend comprising (percent by weight): 1) 50 to 80% of an ethylene polymer composition comprising a recurring unit derived from an ester selected from (1) ethylenically unsaturated organic monomer of esters of unsaturated C3-C20 monocarboxylic acids and C1, to C24 monovalent aliphatic or alicyclic alcohols, and (2) vinyl esters of saturated C2-C18 carboxylic acids, wherein the ester content ranging from 2.5 to 8 wt% based on the total weight of the final ethylene polymer composition; the ethylene polymer composition having a density ranging from 0.920 to 0.935 g/mL; and II) 20 to 50% of an ethylene-based polymer component having a density ranging from 0.9 to 0.930 g/mL and a melt flow rate up to 4 g/10 min. The film that has a ratio between the MD Elmendorf tear resistance and TD Elmendorf tear resistance of 0.3 or less is suitable for pallet application as banding tape.

    Abstract: A method for controlling a chemical reactor such as a gas-phase reactor using a non-linear predictive control includes steps for generating a plurality of signals representing a current state of the chemical reactor and reflecting a respective constituent of reactants in the chemical reactor, calculating a future state of the chemical reactor responsive to said plurality of signals and referenced to mass hold-up of the reactants in the chemical reactor, and controlling at least one parameter related to the chemical reactor so as to control the future state of the chemical reactor. Spurious control events due to noise in sensor or controller output signals are preferably minimized by filtering these signals using a N-sign filter subroutine.

    Abstract: A polyolefin composition comprising: (A) from 8 to 25% by weight of a crystalline homopolymer or copolymer of propylene: (B) from 75 to 92% by weight of an elastomeric fraction comprising: (1) a first elastomeric copolymer of propylene with from 15 to 32% by weight at least one alpha-olefin of formula H 2 C=CHR, where R is H or a C 2-6 linear or branched alkyl, optionally containing 0.5 to 5% by weight of a diene, said first elastomeric copolymer containing alpha-olefin, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than 50% by weight, the intrinsic viscosity of the xylene soluble fraction ranging from 3.0 to 5.0 dl/g; and (2) a second elastomeric copolymer of propylene with at least one alpha-olefin of formula H 2 C=CHR, where R is H or a C 2-6 linear or branched alkyl, optionally containing 0.5 to 5% by weight of a diene, said second elastomeric copolymer containing more than 32% up to 45% by weight alpha-olefin, and having solubility in xylene at room temperature greater than 80% by weight, the intrinsic viscosity of the xylene soluble fraction ranging from 4.0 to 6.5 dl/g; the (1)/(2) weight ratio ranging from 1:5 to 5:1.
