    Abstract: A preferred embodiment of a pylon has six pylon mounting links for mounting the pylon to an airframe. Each link is considered ''near-rigid'' and has a spherical-bearing rod-end on both ends such that the link can only transmit axial loads. At least one of the links has a mass carried within the link and selectively moveable by an actuating means along the axis of the link in an oscillatory manner for attenuating vibrations traveling axially through the link. The actuating means may be an electromechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or piezoelectric system. By mounting each link in a selected orientation relative to the other links, the actuating means may be operated in a manner that attenuates axial vibration that would otherwise be transmitted through the link and into the airframe.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor hub suitable for use under the limitation on the composition of a prop rotor aircraft. SOLUTION: The hub 10 contains a constant velocity universal joint 50 in the same plane as a yoke 12. Torque is transmitted from a shaft to a blade through the constant velocity universal joint, hub plates 14 and 16 installed on the joint, and the yoke installed on the hub plates. By providing all elements on a plane arrangement structure, the height of a hub assembly is lowered substantially more than a traditional formation. The hub itself comes in the same plane as the yoke, and torque is transmitted more efficiently from a mast to a rotor.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain safety of an aircraft, by using distortion gage which directly measures distortion by preload of down stop assembly. SOLUTION: When a trough part 117 is warped, a distortion due to down stop load is directly sensed by sensor modules 161. Each of the sensor modules 161 generates a signal in proportion to a down stop preload due to distortion by preload. an average preload measure value is found by a plurality of preload measurements and is processed, whereby comparison with respect to a predetermined allowable range is carried out. Further, the predetermined allowable range is selected such that an appropriate preload is present between a tilt rotor assembly and a wing in order to maintain safety of an aircraft while avoiding overload at any part of structure of the aircraft. By this constitution, the sensor module 161 and a distortion gage are used for directly measuring combined static and dynamic loads varying inside a tilt rotor aircraft.
