    Abstract: Procede et dispositif servant a detecter la presence de fibrilation ventriculaire dans un signal electrocardiographique recu (12), consistant a echantillonner (14, 16) a une premiere frequence et a filtrer (18) le signal pour produire une deuxieme frequence inferieure a la premiere frequence. Le coefficient de largeur de bande A2 est ensuite compare (68, 69) avec une valeur de feuille pour determiner s'il depasse ou non cette valeur, et en cas de resultat positif le coefficient de frequence moyenne A1 est compare (71-76) avec une gamme de valeur pour determiner s'il se trouve dans une gamme correspondant a la fibrilation ventriculaire; si la comparaison est positive, la fibrilation ventriculaire est signalee (70).

    Abstract: An impedance plethysmographic apparatus for monitoring respiration of a patient by measuring an impedance signal generated by changes occurring in the patient's chest has filter elements (30, 36) for removing cardiac artifact from the impedance signal caused by cardiac activity in the chest. The filter elements (30, 36) produces an output signal dependent only upon respiration activity in the patient's chest by removing any signals from said output caused by cardiac activity which is substantially periodic in character. There is also disclosed a method of removing cardiac artifact during monitoring of a patient's respiration using impedance plethysmography.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for declaring the presence of ventricular fibrillation from an incoming electrocardiographic signal (12) includes sampling (14, 16) at a first frequency and filtering (18) the same to produce a second frequency lower than the first frequency. This filtered signal is passed to a linear predictor (20) which fits a model signal spectrum to the actual signal spectrum and computes (60 d-e, 62 a-c, 64 a-b) coefficients representative of bandwidth and mean frequency of the signal over a short time interval. Then the coefficient of bandwidth (A2) is compared (68, 69) with a threshold value to determine whether or not it exceeds same, and if so the mean frequency coefficient (A1) is compared (71-76) with a range of values to determine whether it falls within a range corresponding to ventricular fibrillation; if it does, ventricular fibrillation is then declared (70) to be present.
