Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for thermally treating solid matter in pulverulent or granulate form using gaseous streams (7, 16, 22, 23, 24), by means of a body (2), which is displaced about its rotational axis (1). According to said method, the following steps are performed in succession: the bulk goods contained in segments (3) of the displaced body (2) are first heated by exposure to water vapour (22). The heated bulk goods are then subjected to an air supply (23) and/or an inert gas supply (24) in one or more subsequent steps. Finally, the goods that have been dried and/or rendered inert are removed (17) from the segments (3) of the body (2) that is displaced about its rotational axis (1).

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing solid forms of administration by means of melt extrusion. A polymer binder, at least one pharmaceutical active agent and optionally, other additives are mixed and the mixture is melted in an extruder and then extruded in the form of a continuous plastic product strand. The inventive method is characterised in that the extruder used is a planetary roller extruder (10) which preferably has one central spindle (13) and six planetary spindles (14).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing shaped bodies, preferably for a film-like shaped body, comprising the following steps: I) compounding and melt extrusion of a mixture (I) comprising a mixture (II) containing a) 1 to 95 wt. % of at least a pigment (III) with a primary particle size ranging from 5 nm to 20mm, selected from the group consisting of one electrochemically inert solid (IIIa), of a compound (IIIb) capable of giving off lithium ions when charged, and a compound (IIIc), capable of receiving lithium ions when charged, and a mixture of solid (IIIa) with compounds (IIIb) or compound (IIIc), b) 5 to 99 wt. % of at least one polymer binding agent (IV), and c) 0 to 200 wt. % of at least one softening agent (V) in relation to the overall amount of constituents a) and b), wherein the weight percentage of mixture (II) in mixture (I) ranges from 1 to 100 wt. %, and excluding mixtures (I) comprising mixtures (II) containing a copolymer consisting of vinylidene fluoride (Vdf) and hexafluoropropylene (HFP) with a HFP content ranging from 8 to 25 wt. % as a polymer binding agent (IV) and a compound as a softening agent (V) which is selected from the group consisting of dibutyl phthalate, dimethyl phthalate, diethyl phthalate, tris(butoxy)ethyl phosphate, propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate, trimethyl trimellitate and mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the preparation of copolymerisates of vinyl aromatic compounds at temperatures ranging from -80 DEG C to 150 DEG C in the presence of metallocene catalyst systems, polymerisation occurring using a tightly intermeshing double screw extruder rotating in the same direction.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, the present invention relates to abuse-deterrent drug formulations comprise a plurality of discrete domains uniformly dispersed in a pharmaceutically acceptable matrix, wherein said domains have high fracture toughness and comprise at least one polymer and at least one abuse-relevant drug. In another embodiment, the present invention relates to a formulation comprising a plurality of discrete mechanically reinforcing particles uniformly dispersed in a pharmaceutically acceptable matrix, wherein said matrix has high fracture toughness and comprises at least one polymer and at least one active agent, at least one abuse-relevant drug or a combination of at least one active agent and at least one abuse-relevant drug.
Abstract:
The preferred exemplary embodiments in the present application provide formulations and methods for the delivery of drugs, particularly drugs of abuse, having an abuse-relevant drug substantially confined in the core and a non-abuse relevant drug in a non-core region. These formulations have reduced potential for abuse. In the formulation, preferably the abuse relevant drug is an opioid and the non-abuse relevant drug is acetaminophen or ibuprofen. More preferably, the opioid is hydrocodone, and the non-abuse relevant analgesic is acetaminophen. In certain preferred embodiments, the dosage forms are characterized by resistance to solvent extraction; tampering, crushing or grinding. Certain embodiments of the inventions provide dosage forms that provide an initial burst of release of drug followed by a prolonged period of controllable drug release.
Abstract:
A process for producing a solid dispersion of an active ingredient which comprises feeding the active ingredient and a matrix-forming agent to an extruder and forming a uniform extrudate, wherein the extruder comprises at least two rotating shafts (2), each of the shafts (2) carrying a plurality of processing elements disposed axially one behind the other, the processing elements defining (i) a feeding and conveying section (A), (ii) at least one mixing section (B), and (iii) a discharging section (E), wherein the processing element(s) defining the mixing section (B) comprise(s) a mixing element (11, 12, 13) that is derived from a screw type element (figure 2).
Abstract:
An in-space spacecraft servicing system (10) includes a servicing spacecraft (22) and a propellant module (24). The servicing spacecraft includes a client servicing system (136), as well as navigation avionics (108) for independent flight operation and a servicing propellant tank (170). The propellant module moves the servicing spacecraft from an upper stage drop off location and releases it in proximity to a client spacecraft (16) for a servicing mission. It has a propellant tank (172) with capacity for multiple missions and is used to refill the servicing spacecraft's propellant tanks between missions. Either or both the servicing spacecraft and the propellant module may have navigation avionics. The servicing spacecraft also has a universal docking adaptor (70) for different client spacecraft, and can convert a client spacecraft from non-cooperative to cooperative.
