Abstract:
A pane (24) is separated from a moving ribbon (20) of brittle material by restraining the pbbon upstream of a score line (26) ppor to separating the pane The pbbon is restrained by selectively contacting a first side (32) with an upstream press bar (60) and a second sid (34) of the pbbon with an upstream backing bar (80) in one of an opposite, overlapping or offset relation The pbbon can be restrained ppor to, substantially simultaneous with or subsequent to forming the score line Aftei separation of the pane from the ribbon using downstream press bar (70), the restrained status of the pbbon is maintained dunng and immediately after separation, thereby reducing the introduction of a disturbance or bending moment into the upstream ribbon
Abstract:
Bulk single crystal of aluminum nitride (AlN) having an areal planar defect density≤lOO cm"2. Methods for growing single crystal aluminum nitride include melting an aluminum foil to uniformly wet a foundation with a layer of aluminum, the foundation forming a portion of an AlN seed holder, for an AlN seed to be used for the AlN growth. The holder may consist essentially of a substantially impervious backing plate. LIBC/3200448 1
Abstract:
Semiconductor structures and devices based thereon include an aluminum nitride single-crystal substrate and at least one layer epitaxially grown thereover. The epitaxial layer may comprise at least one of AlN, GaN, InN, or any binary or tertiary alloy combination thereof, and have an average dislocation density within the semiconductor heterostructure is less than about 10 6 cm -2 . Bulk single crystals of AlN have a diameter greater than about 25 mm and dislocation densities of about 10,000 cm -2 or less, and high-quality AlN substrates have surfaces of any desired crystallographic orientation fabricated from these bulk crystals.
Abstract:
A glass sheet is placed on a mold and heated to a first temperature. The glass sheet is then formed into a glass article having a three-dimensional shape using the mold. An isothermal heat transfer device comprising at least one heat pipe is provided in thermal contact with the mold. With the glass article on the mold and the isothermal heat transfer device in thermal contact with the mold, the glass article, mold, and isothermal heat transfer device are transported along a thermally-graded channel to cool the glass article to a second temperature. During the transporting, the isothermal heat transfer device transfers heat from a relatively hot region of the mold to a relatively cold region of the mold.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for forming a handling tab on a glass substrate are disclosed. The method may include conveying a glass substrate in a conveyance direction. An adhesive tape ribbon may be positioned adjacent to the first lateral edge of the glass substrate such that an adhesive surface of the adhesive tape ribbon is spaced apart from the first lateral edge of the glass substrate and the adhesive surface is substantially perpendicular to the first surface and the second surface. The adhesive tape ribbon may be folded such that at least a portion of the glass substrate is positioned between the adhesive surface of a first portion of the adhesive tape ribbon and the adhesive surface of a second portion of the adhesive tape ribbon, and a third portion of the adhesive tape ribbon forms a handling tab extending beyond the first lateral edge of the glass substrate.
Abstract:
A method of forming a 3D glass article from a 2D glass sheet includes placing the 2D glass sheet on a mold having a mold surface with a 3D surface profile corresponding to that of the 3D glass article. The 2D glass sheet is heated to a first temperature selected from a temperature range corresponding to a glass viscosity of 10 7 Poise to 10 11 Poise. A pressurized gas heated to a second temperature in the temperature range is applied to a first surface of the 2D glass sheet to conform the 2D glass sheet to the mold surface and form the 3D glass article.
Abstract:
A hydraulic housing for a solenoid valve is provided having a polymeric housing body with at least three control volumes intersected by a central bore with at least two of said control volumes being intersected by a radial passage. At least three axially spaced annular metallic bearing members are provided with at least two annular metallic bearing members providing control volume boundaries. The bearing members are permanently affixed within the polymeric body and have concentric inner diameters for receipt of a spool valve. The inner diameters of the bearing members are machined after the bearing members are affixed within the polymeric body.
Abstract:
Fabrication of doped and undoped stoichiometric polycrystalline AlN ceramics with high purity is accomplished by, for example, reacting Al pellets with nitrogen gas. Such polycrystalline AlN ceramics may be utilized in the fabrication of high purity AlN single crystals, which may be annealed to enhance a conductivity thereof.
