Abstract:
This invention relates to novel blends containing degraded crystalline polypropylene or propylene containing copolymer useful as extrusion coating compositions which provide coatings having good coatability and good heat sealability. These coated substrates then can be used in fabricating bags and other packaging applications. Particularly, these coatings are a blend of a degraded crystalline polypropylene, or propylene containing copolymer, and low density polyethylene.
Abstract:
A multi-mode, two-phase cooling module (10) comprises a first housing portion (20), a second housing portion (30), and a third housing portion (40). Cooling liquid (22) is held in first housing portion (20), and one or more electronic components (24) are mounted onto an external surface of first housing portion (20) for being pool cooled. The second housing portion (30) has one or more spray nozzles (32) secured to one of the internal surfaces, and one or more electronic components (34) mounted onto one of the external surfaces in a position opposite spray nozzles (32). The third housing portion (40) has one or more condensers (42) on the internal surfaces, and one or more heat sinks (44) on the external surfaces. One or more electric fans (46), piezo-electronic fans, or spray nozzles (48) may be provided adjacent to internal surfaces of the condensers (42). The cooling module (10) is made of a thermally conductive material.
Abstract:
The present invention includes a sleeve for use with a device for collecting and transporting biological specimens. The sleeve comprises a tubular member for containing the bottom portion of the collection device and a lever so as to exert pressure to the collection device so as to break the ampoule, The sleeve provides an environment to maintain the substantial viability of a specimen during transport in a collection device.

This invention relates to novel low density polyethylene containing blends useful as extrusion coating compositions which provide coatings having good coatability and a broad heat seal range. These coated substrates then can be used in fabricating bags and other packaging applications. These coatings contain a blend of low density polyethylene and a degraded crystalline polypropylene or propylene containing copolymer.
Abstract:
An improved extrusion coating is described comprising at least two polyethylene homopolymers, one component being a low melt index medium density polyethylene homopolymer, and another component being a high melt index low density polyethylene homopolymer. Superior heat seal strengths are achieved with this blend.
Abstract:
A blend of at least three different polyethylene-based components is described which can be extrusion coated onto a substrate to give a strong bond therewith with short curing times. The blend comprises a medium density polyethylene with a narrow molecular weight distribution, a low density polyethylene homopolymer with a broad molecular weight distribution, and a linear low density polyethylene copolymer.
Abstract:
A process of producing a heat sealed extrusion coated polyethylene article is disclosed. This process entails heat sealing, at a temperature below 95.degree. C. two opposing extrusion coated polyethylene laminate surfaces thereby welding the surfaces to effect a heat seal. The polyethylene has a narrow molecular weight distribution, a low melt index, a low swell ratio, and a polydispersity index below 5.
Abstract:
The present invention is a device and method for collecting and transporting biological specimens. The device provides an environment for maintaining substantial validity of a specimen during transport. The device comprises a tubular housing with an ampoule containing medium, a specimen collector and a sleeve positioned over the tubular housing. The sleeve is used to effectively break the ampoule so as to release medium into the tubular housing so as to keep a specimen substantially viable during transport.
