Abstract:
Compositions for application to skin of a subject comprising (a) an unsaturated organopolymer, (b) a hydride functionalized polysiloxane and (c) an environment-responsive agent that is capable of transporting out of the composition or facilitates out-transport of one or more beneficial agents from the composition after the composition is applied to a subject. Alternatively, the compositions comprise (a) a bifunctional organopolysiloxane polymer having one unsaturated group and one hydride and (b) the environment- responsive agent. The environment-responsive agent may be a volatile agent and the compositions can be used to create a thin film on the skin of a subject wherein the volatile agent is capable of transporting out of the film. In one embodiment, the volatile agent is transported out of the composition by convection. In one embodiment, the volatile agent is transported out of the composition by diffusion.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates generally to compositions that include at least two or at least three gelling agents, at least one emollient, and at least 15% water by mass relative to the total mass.
Abstract:
Sunscreen products that do not require the use of organic, ultraviolet-absorbing agents are provided. Effective protection of the skin from ultraviolet light is attained by increasing the amounts of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. To mask the excessive whiteness that would otherwise result from the oxides, the sunscreen products contain multilayer-type encapsulations containing pigments. Before use, the pigments are enveloped in capsules that muffle the pigments' color. When the sunscreen product is applied to the skin, the capsules break and the pigments are released to counter the excessive whiteness due to titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Sunscreen product precursors, from which these sunscreen products can be generated by stirring, are also provided. A sunscreen product package contains the sunscreen product precursor and a stirring ball. A method of ultraviolet protection is provided by shaking the sunscreen product package and applying the sunscreen product thus generated to the skin.
Abstract:
An objective of the present invention is to provide an anti-graying agent. The present invention provides a method for screening an anti-graying agent whereby a substance that accelerates expression of AFF-4 in cells is selected by applying a candidate substance to cells in vitro; and, an anti-graying agent containing at least one type of herbal extract selected from the group consisting of Ganoderma lucidum (Fr.) Karst. extract, Panax schinseng Nees extract, Oryza sativa (Rice) Bran extract and Rabdosia japonicus extract selected with this method in an amount effective for accelerating expression of AFF-4.
Abstract:
Antagonists to platelet-activating factor (PAF) and dermatological compositions for external use aiming at preventing and relieving skin chapping which contain as the active ingredient(s) an extract of Bengle, which is a plant belonging to the genus Zingiber of the family Zingiberaceae , or compounds 1 and/or 2 contained therein.
Abstract:
External preparations for the amelioration and prevention of chapped skin, comprising an extract of a marine alga belonging to the genus Ascophyllum as an active ingredient. These preparations are efficacious in ameliorating chapped skin, exhibit excellent effects in the amelioration and prevention of various skin diseases and chapped and roughened skins, and are excellent in safety.
Abstract:
A solid W/O stable composition comprising a gellifing system comprising at least one hydrophobic gelling agent and at least one hydrophilic gelling agent and an emulsifying system comprising at least one surfactant having HLB value of 14 or less. Further there is disclosed a method of treatment keratinous surface with the inventive composition.
