Abstract:
Techniques for enhancing the sound quality of computer telephony systems are provided. In general, digital signals including telephony sounds are converted from the time domain to the frequency domain. If noise is detected in the frequency domain conversion of the digital signals, the noise is removed utilizing a filter. The noise detection and filtering can be performed in software so that enhanced audio quality can be achieved at a relatively low cost and with flexibility for very diverse environments
Abstract:
Embodiments provide a system, method, apparatus, means, and computer program code that allow multiple annotations to a document to be created and that distinguish between the annotations made by different people. The people may view documents (380, 400, 420), exchange ideas and messages, etc. via a server or conference/collaboration system at different times and/or without being in direct communication with each other. In such an off-line collaboration mode, the people may want to add listen to, view, or add annotations regarding one or more documents (380, 400, 420). The methods and systems described herein allow users to follow the trail of annotations regarding a document (380, 400, 420) and to distinguish between the voice or other audible annotations created by other people
Abstract:
A conference call arrangement, conferencing device, conference unit and a method of managing conference calls. The conferencing device may be a speakerphone with a speak up indicator. Whenever a conference call attendee does not speak loudly enough for remote participants, the conference unit sends a speak up indication to a corresponding conferencing device. The speak up indicator is activated when the received voice signal compared to the ambient noise level is below a user defined or predetermined threshold. The speak up indicator is a visible (an LED) or an audible indicator.
Abstract:
A system for Instant Messaging based control of the digital personal video stream manager (102), for example, to program a video recording device (114). The system includes a personal computer (110) having an Instant Messaging client (2202) and equipping the Instant Messaging client with a DPVSM control plug in (2204). The DPVSM control plug in (2204) is adapted to identify a special DPVSM control Instant Message (2301) which is then translated by the DPVSM control program (312). The digital personal video stream manager (102) then activates at the appropriate time to record the program
Abstract:
A hybrid system and method are provided for determining the geographic location of a wireless device. A first base station subsystem is connected to the wireless device for transferring location information to and from the wireless device. A network subsystem is connected to the first base station subsystem and to a location computation entity for transferring location information between the first base station subsystem and the location computation entity. A second base station subsystem is connected to a location measurement entity and to the location computation entity for transferring location information between the location measurement entity and the location computation entity. The location computation entity generates and sends location information to the wireless device and/or location measurement entity and processes location information received from the wireless device and/or location measurement entity to obtain the geographic location of the wireless device.
Abstract:
A fiber-optic cable guide (19) includes first and second guide walls (2, 3), one or more base support elements (4) for connecting the guide walls, and a number of securing elements (5) which extend from the guide walls along a top portion thereof. Each securing member preferably has a length which is shorter than the spacing between the guide walls. This difference in length substantially corresponds to the diameter of a fiber-optic cable. A fastener (40) may be included on a bottom surface of one or more of the guide walls for attaching the guide to a mounting surface, which may be a printed circuit board (25). Furthermore, the guide walls may be conformed to traverse any desired path along the board.
Abstract:
A system and method is presented for the restricting features in a wireless network. A database contains representations of rules that restrict the features of terminals connected to a base station. For an incoming communication, a determination is made as to which terminal is associated with the call, and a database is accessed to look up rules governing restrictions on the terminal and/or the base station connected to the terminal; the terminal is then activated depending on the restrictions. For outgoing communication, when a signal associated with a request for an outgoing communication is received from a terminal, a database is accessed to look up rules governing restrictions; the terminal is connected for outgoing communication depending on whether the restrictions allow it.
Abstract:
Methods for accurate transmission of ELIN/callback number from an emergency caller calling from behind a PBX/MLTS include assigning a port equipment number to each device/trunk of the PBX/MLTS and associating ports/devices with ELINs and callback numbers. The apparatus of the invention detects an emergency number, assigns the call priority, and uses the port/device number to determine the ELIN/callback number and properly transmit the ELIN/callback number over a private network for far-end hop-off to the public network PSAP
