Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a dew from being condensed on an inner wall of a test tank while a gas concentration is stabilized by a method wherein a dehumidifier and a circulation pump are arranged from a circulation opening side in a circulation circuit between the circulation opening of a tester and its return opening, and only moisture in a gas atmosphere in the test tank is released to the open air by an ion exchange membrane of the dehumidifier to make a dry gas by dehumidification. SOLUTION: A test gas is adjusted in concentration by dilution and mixing, and introduced into a test tank. A circulation circuit is provided between a circulation opening 16 of the test tank of a gas corrosion tester 2 to be adjusted to the gas concentration atmosphere and its return opening 17, and a dehumidifier 1 and a circulation pump 18 are arranged successively from the circulation opening 16 side. Only the moisture in an exhaust gas is released to the open air through an ion exchange membrane 4 to be dehumidified while it is passed from a gas inlet to an outlet on a side surface of a frame wherein the ion exchange membrane 4 is spread on both sides in the dehumidifier 1, and the product is returned as a dry gas into the gas atmosphere. Control of the circulation pump 18 is executed by a temperature and humidity control mechanism 13. Thereby, a change in a gas concentration to be caused by dissolution of the gas into dew condensed water and dew condensation on an inner wall of the test tank can be prevented.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To plate both surfaces of a membrane with platinum at one time by grinding the surfaces of a membrane to obtain rough surfaces, forming a platinum thin film on each surface by sputtering, heat treating in hot water, treating with a reducing agent in a hydrazine-hydrate soln., and bringing the both surface into contact with a chloroplatinic acid soln. in a fluidized state. SOLUTION: After the surface is polished, the membrane is boiled in boiling pure water for 1 to 2 hours to remove impurities. Argon gas is introduced into a sputtering device, the pressure is adjusted to almost 10 Pa to generate glow discharge between a platinum target and a substrate on which an ion exchange membrane is mounted. Thus, sputtering is caused to deposit platinum atoms on the ion exchange membrane to form a thin film. Then the membrane is heat-treated in warm pure water and reduced in a hydrazine monohydrate (H2 NNH2 .H2 O) soln. Then the ion exchange membrane 1 is held and fastened in plating cells A and B, a chloroplatinic acid (H2 PtCl6 .6H2 O) soln. 5 is supplied through a ventilation port and circulated by a circulating pump D so that the liquid in a fluidized state is brought into contact with the membrane to plate the both surfaces at one time.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the bath voltage and heat loss by using carbon fiber cloth or mat like cloth, on which lead dioxide is electrodeposited, as a lead dioxide catalytic body in an anode side. SOLUTION: The carbon fiber cloth 6 is obtained by plane-weave single fiber formed by bundling several thousand numbers of superfine carbon fibers into a cloth like form, cutting, dewaxing in a dewaxing bath, washing and drying. The carbon fiber cloth 6 is applied on a platinum net made conductive belt 8 attached along the periphery of four sides of an electrically insulating material made square frame 7 so as to be in uniform contact and held by a pressing frame 9 to be fixed. The square frame 7 is dipped into an electrolytic bath housing a solution prepared by dissolving lead (II) tetrafluoroborate in a prescribed concentration, a platinum plate is dipped in a position opposed to the square frame 7 and the platinum net made conductive belt 8 and the platinum plate are connected to respectively an anode and a cathode of a DC power source to apply current to obtain the carbon fiber cloth 6 having lead dioxide electrolytically deposited uniformly on the surface. In the assembly of an electrolytic cell, the carbon fiber cloth 6 is applied on the surface of the high molecular solid electrolyte and pressed with a porous electrode to be used.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably produce gaseous oxygen and hydrogen dried to extremely low humidity by passing an electrolytic gas by the electrolysis of water using an ion-exchange membrane through a cooling-type dehumidifier to condense and remove the moisture and then, through a box-shaped or cylindrical vessel formed by a fluororesin ion-exchange membrane and making dry air or gaseous nitrogen flow around the outer periphery of the vessel. SOLUTION: A cooling-type dehumidifier 1 is a metallic flay sheet having plural radiating fins 14 on one side in which the planes are opposed to each other by two sheets and held and sealed between square frame of the same size, a gas inlet and outlet and a waste liq. port are provided and consists of a cooling fan for cooling the fins 14. The two daces of exchange membranes in an ion-exchange membrane dehumidifier 9 are opposed to each other hold a square frame of the same size between them and are fixed close to the frame, perforated plates are piled up to protect the exchange membranes, dry air 5 or gaseous nitrogen is hit against the membrane and the moisture in the gas is passes through the membrane and discharged. A double-cylinder type exchange-membrane dehumidifier is also preferable as the dehumidifier.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently execute platinum plating with a good adhesion property and uniformity by placing an ion exchange membrane on a sample table, putting an upper cap-like plating cell, fixing the membrane in this state, disposing respective chemical tanks, installing piping at the circumference thereof and executing liquid filling, washing, liquid draining, etc., in accordance with plating procedures. SOLUTION: The ion exchange membrane 2 is placed on the sample table 1 and the plating cell 3 is put thereon. The plating cell 3 is press bonded and fixed to the sample table 1 by means of a fastener 6. The upper cap-like parts of the plating cell 3 are provided with liquid filling parts 5a to 5d of the solns. from the respective tanks 11a and water filling holes 5e. A heater 27 is built into the sample table 1 to control the respective solns. to the optimum temps. corresponding to the temp. conditions of the respective solns. by a programmed temp. controller 28. The respective solns. in the plating cell 3, exclusive of the platinum chloride soln. 19, are recovered into the respective tanks 11a to 11c by waste liquid recovering pumps 24a to 24c after the end of the prescribed stages. The water used for washing, etc., is discharged outside by a drain pump 25 and is treated.
