    Abstract: Disclosed is a sliding mechanism apparatus used for slidably opening and closing a slider-type cellular phone. A guide member and a slider member are engaged with each other so as to enable to slide relative to each other. The end of one arm of a first torsion spring is connected to the slider member near the left edge thereof. The end of the other arm thereof is coupled to the right half area of the guide member. The end of one arm of a second torsion spring is connected to the slider member near the right edge thereof. The end of the other arm thereof is coupled to the left half area of the guide member. From the expanded original state of the first and second torsion springs, if an external force is exerted on the slider member or the guide member, the torsion springs are compressed into an acute angle and then spread again by means of the elastic force thereof. In this way, the slider member can move to the lowermost position or the lowermost position. In the first and second torsion springs, the distance between the ends of two arms is larger than at least half of the width of the slider member. Therefore, the first and second torsion springs can maximally utilize the width of the guide member while turning, thereby extending the maximum travel distance of the slider member.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a method for measuring receive sensitivity of a base station in order to test a plurality of FAs with only one test terminal. The method includes the steps of: performing synchronization of a primary FA and detecting a channel list at the test terminal; and sensing at least one FA from the base station according to the channel list at a controller, and controlling the test terminal to perform synchronization of each FA from a first FA of a first sector to the last FA of the last sector, one by one. Therefore, it has an advantage in that the receive sensitivity of all FAs (frequency allocations) can be measured by using only one test terminal, while testing receive sensitivity of a base station providing multiple FAs.

    Abstract: In a wireless telephone, when an operation such as opening or closing of a front flip cover or a key operation of communication-start or communication-end occurs, a controller obtains information for extraction or retraction of an antenna. Based on the above information, the controller controls a motor-driving by intermittently supplying a motor-driving signal by which the motor can rotate clockwise or counterclockwise during a preset time necessitated for fully extracting and retracting an antenna. While motor-driving, if a blocking force is applied to an antenna, the controller repeatedly stops supplying of the driving signals to the motor for a predetermined interval and then resumes supplying the signals. A gear unit is tightly coupled in a body with the motor, receives a rotating force from the motor shaft, and extracts and retracts an antenna. In addition, there is further provided a fixing element for fixing the motor and the gear unit to an antenna housing, which is able to absorb external impact transferred to the motor and the gear unit through an antenna and to absorb a vibration of the motor. When a front flip cover is opened or a communication-start key is pushed by a user to use the wireless telephone, the antenna is automatically extracted from the antenna housing, while when the front flip cover is closed or a communication-end key is pushed, the antenna is automatically retracted into the antenna housing.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an elastic device which is suitable for a sliding opening/closing apparatus of a portable appliance. The elastic device includes a first torsion spring including a first spiral part which is wound as a spiral shape without a vertical overlapping portion and a first extension arm extending from an outer portion of the first spiral part; a second torsion spring including a second spiral part which is wound as a spiral shape without a vertical overlapping portion thereof and a second extension arm extending from an outer portion of the second spiral part. The elastic device also includes a connection member connecting one of both ends of the first torsion spring and one of both ends of the second torsion spring with each other. The elastic device may have a smaller thickness in comparison with that of a conventional torsion spring having a vertical overlapping portion thereof.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a power antenna apparatus for automatically extracting/retracting an antenna. A motor is controlled by a control circuit to generate a rotational force. An antenna housing has a guide slot extending longitudinally on an inner surface thereof. A rotary member is installed in the antenna housing and is rotated by the motor. A coil spring is rotatably accommodated in the antenna housing and one end thereof is fixed to the rotary member. An antenna conveying member is received together with the antenna within the coil spring as being fixedly coupled with the antenna by a lower end of the antenna. The antenna conveying member has protrusions which are loosely inserted into the guide slot of the antenna housing and conveys the antenna along with the guide slot to extract or retract the antenna by means of a rotation of the coil spring. Other embodiments are disclosed for flexible installation of the apparatus. Application of the apparatus to a wireless telephone is also disclosed.
