Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for selecting the shortest one path among multi-paths based on bridge IDs variously deformed in an Ethernet backbone network and an Ethernet subscriber backbone network. The present invention selects the shortest path based on a set priority rule, which is expressed with a priority matrix which transforms the priority rule by relocating rows and states a series of transformation procedures generating an address switching matrix used in address switching and presents an excellent row-relocation rule and an excellent address switching matrix. The present invention changes a portion of a bridge priority masking scheme used in a current standard, IEEE 802.1ad, to select a path by a more impartial method, thereby enhancing use rate of a transmission link and performance of a network.

Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for managing a memory in a delay tolerant network. The present invention determines a message to be deleted in a memory based on the number of transfers calculated for each message, and deletes the determined message from the memory. According to the present invention, a message to be deleted from a memory is determined and deleted based on the number of transfers calculated for each message so that a message which has not been dispersed much to the network is left in a buffer memory and a message which has been sufficiently dispersed to the network is removed first, making it possible to satisfy basic requirements of management of a memory buffer to increase an overall message transfer rate.
