Abstract: PURPOSE: A toothpaste composition containing Opuntia humifusa powder and extract as active ingredients is provided to suppress bacteria causing gingival diseases with antibacterial and antifungal functions, to alleviate inflammation, to remove bad breath, and to enhance gingival and dental health. CONSTITUTION: A toothpaste composition contains Opuntia humifusa powder and extract as active ingredients. The toothpaste composition also contains a powder base and a liquid additive. The powder base contains 100 parts by weight of sodium bicarbonate, 15-20 parts by weight of Opuntia humifusa powder, 35-45 parts by weight of corn starch, 5-10 parts by weight of pine resin powder, 5-10 parts by weight of charcoal powder, and 10-15 parts by weight of bamboo salt. The liquid additive contains 100 parts by weight of glycerin, 30-35 parts by weight of the Opuntia humifusa extract, 30-35 parts by weight of a mound lily extract, 30-35 parts by weight of kaolin clay, and 5-10 parts by weight of allantoin. The toothpaste composition further contains herb essential oil and a grapefruit seed extract.
