Abstract: A composition for dyeing keratin fiber is provided to obtain the dyed keratin fiber uniformly with red, copper or mahogany color from hair root to the hair end and having strong resistance against various attacking factors to hair such as shampoo, light, sweat and perming under acidic pH. A composition for dyeing keratin fiber comprises at least one oxidation base selected from the group consisting of 2,3-diamino-6,7-dihydro-1H,5H-pyrazolo[1,2-a]pyrazol-1-one represented by a formula(1) and an addition salt thereof, at least one coupler, at least one surfactant selected from the group consisting of oxyalkylenated or glycerolated fatty alcohol, sulfate or sulfonate-type anionic surfactant, and betaine-type amphoteric surfactant, and at least one oxidizing agent, wherein the pH of the composition is in the range of 5.5-7.5, and the composition does not include 3-amino-2-methylamino-6-methoxypyridine; a fatty chain cationic polyurethane obtained by condensation of 1,3-bis(isocyanatomethylcyclohexane) quaternized by bromodecane N,N-dimethylethanolamine and polyoxyethylene; a polycondensate of polyethylene glycol containing 150- or 180 mol of ethylene oxide, a decyl alcohol and methylene bis(4-cyclohexyl isocyanate); a mixture of a cetearyl alcohol polyglycerolated by 2 mol of glycerol and a cetearyl alcohol polyglycerolated by 6 mol of glycerol; and hexylene glycol when the composition includes an oxy-alkylenated or glycerolated fatty alcohol. A method for dyeing the keratin fiber comprises the steps of: (a) applying the composition to the fiber for a time enough for coloring the fiber to a desired color; and (b) after rinsing off the fiber, drying it. Further, the coupler is selected from metha-phenylene diamine, metha-amino phenol, metha-diphenol, naphthalene based coupler and heterocyclic coupler.
