Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus for treating wastewater wherein an excess sludge separated by a settling separation tank can be surely recovered by a simple structure, and deterioration of treated water quality can be prevented. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for treating wastewater is equipped with a solid and liquid separator 3 wherein wastewater containing garbage crushed by a disposer 1 is separated into a solid content and liquid content; an apparatus 4 for making compost for treating the solid content separated by the solid and liquid separator 3; a wastewater treating tank 5 for treating the liquid content separated by the solid and liquid separator 3; a settling separation tank 6 for settling and separating a sludge content contained in treated water from a wastewater treating tank 5; and a transfer means for transferring the sludge settled in the settling separation tank 6 to the apparatus 4 for making compost.
