Abstract: A method for displaying an avatar in a mobile terminal is provided to allow a user to clearly recognize a function of an occurring event by combining various images according to a situation of a mobile terminal. When an event occurs, event occurrence information is analyzed(201,203,205,207,209). An avatar background image corresponding to the event occurrence information, an avatar image, text and a select button list are extracted and an avatar collective image is displayed. When a certain select button on the displayed select button list is inputted, an avatar image and text according to the inputted select button are extracted. The extracted avatar image and text are displayed on the avatar collective image.
