Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for transmitting/receiving signals in a MIMO(Multiple Input Multiple Output) mobile communication system are provided to obtain the maximum diversity gain and the maximum data rate by suggesting a quasi-orthogonal space-time mapping scheme. A signal transmitting apparatus in a MIMO mobile communication system comprises the first pre-encoder(313-1), the second pre-encoder(313-2), and a space-time mapper(315). The first pre-encoder(313-1) pre-encodes an inputted upper Tx vector according to a preset pre-encoding scheme and creates an upper pre-encoded symbol stream. The second pre-encoder(313-2) pre-encodes an inputted lower Tx vector according to the pre-encoding scheme and creates a lower pre-encoded symbol stream. The space-time mapper(315) performs space-time mapping for the upper pre-encoded symbol stream and the lower pre-encoded symbol stream according to the number of Tx antennas to be used and a preset space-time mapping scheme and creates a space-time mapped matrix. The space-time mapper(315) judges whether null transmission exists in the space-time mapped matrix, creates a corresponding codeword, and transmits it.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for transmission in a multiple input multiple output communication system are provided to transmit data efficiently by adaptively an antenna transmission method and a beam-forming method that uses a code book. A transmission method selector(402) calculates the capacity loss amounts of both first and second transmission methods depending on variables. The transmission method selection unit compares the capacity loss amount of the first transmission method with that of the second transmission method. A transmitter transmits a probing signal for channel estimation of a base station(400), and receives scheduling information from a base station. The data are transmitted according to the scheduling information.
