Abstract: An apparatus and a method for inputting the Korean alphabet are provided to output one of character groups on a screen, select characters from the outputted group, and output the inputted characters on the screen, thereby inputting the Korean alphabet using keys to the minimum. An apparatus(100) for inputting the Korean alphabet comprises an input unit(110), a storage unit(120), an output unit(130), and a control unit(140). The input unit inputs corresponding characters if a user pushes a predetermined directional key to select input characters in a predetermined character group outputted on a screen. The storage unit stores the inputted characters in a storage space. The output unit outputs the characters in the character group on the screen. The control unit completes the input of a syllable if the user pushes a control key.
