Abstract: A device and a method for inputting text based on a wheel type input mode are provided to enable a user to input the text quickly more than an on-screen keyboard arranged in a grid type by using a text wheel interface including electronic sensors and mechanical key buttons arranged in a wheel type. An electronic sensor array(310) is arranged in a wheel type and recognizes a touch of a human body. A mechanical key input unit(320) recognizes vowel input, consonant/vowel switching, and capital/small letter switching. A user interface displays text input information according to information recognized in the electronic sensor array and the mechanical key input unit. The user interface unit displays the selected text in the biggest size and displays the remaining texts in the size gradually decreased to a lower side.

Abstract: A method and a device for navigating contents are provided to enable a user to easily navigate the contents and remove difficulty in fine manipulation by supporting a touch wheel mode and a four-direction mode at the same time, and enable the user to intuitively recognize movement of a menu object and layer by providing a circular content menu screen. A GUI part generates a menu screen, and an input detector detects touch and generates detection information for the detected touch. A controller determines whether the detected touch is continuous movement sensed by a sensor(229) or push of a mechanical button(227). If the detected touch is the continuous movement, the controller enables the GUI part to rotate/display the menu screen according to the movement of the sensor. If the detected touch is the push, the controller enables the GUI part to rotate/display the menu screen according to the push of the mechanical button. A key input part includes a circular motive navigation key(225) combining a four direction mode and a touch wheel mode. The circular motive navigation key includes the mechanical buttons and the sensor.
