본 발명은 인터넷상에서 사용자 자신을 나타내는 그래픽 아이콘을 표현함에 있어서 현실의 사용자가 경험하는 정보를 반영하여 그래픽 아이콘을 갱신하는 방법에 관한 것으로, 사용자에게 발생한 이벤트에 대한 데이터를 수집하는 단계와 수집된 데이터를 서버로 전송하는 단계와 전송된 데이터에 기초하여 가상 현실상의 그래픽 아이콘을 갱신하는 단계를 포함하여, 사용자가 경험하고 있는 내용을 데이터베이스와 연동하여 그래픽 아이콘에 표현함으로써, 사용자의 실제 경험을 가상 세계에서 보다 현실감 있게 표현할 수 있다.

A method and an apparatus for linking a graphic icon in an internet virtual world with user's experience in the real world, and a recording medium thereof are provided to update a graphic icon to express a current state of a user in a virtual world service. An event collecting unit(410) collects data about an event generated in a user. The event collecting unit comprises an event detection unit. The event detection unit detects an event generated by an external signal or detects a real time event. A transmitting unit(420) transmits the collected data to a server. An update unit(430) updates a graphic icon in a virtual world based on the transmitted data.

본 발명은 무선 랜 환경에서의 프레임 전송을 제어하는 장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 본 발명에 따른 제 1 재전송 제어 방법은 서버로부터 수신된 프레임의 에러의 개수와 소정의 임계값을 비교하는 단계; 및 비교된 결과에 기초하여 프레임에 대한 재전송을 적응적으로 불허하는 단계를 포함하며, 에러가 검출된 프레임에 대한 재전송을 적응적으로 허용함으로써 무선 랜 환경의 상태에 상관없이 항상 최적의 영상을 제공할 수 있다.

A method and apparatus for waking up a remote main system. The method includes: certifying whether a user of a terminal which transmits a packet for waking up a main system that is in a sleeping state is a legitimate user of the main system; and transmitting a wake-up signal to the main system if it is certified that the user is legitimate. Access of uncertified users can be prevented by certifying a user who is in the process of logging on or logging into the main system before the main system wakes up.

A method of upgrading software and a network device for performing the same are provided so that the operation of a network device is not catastrophically affected by a failure occurring while software is being upgraded in a network environment. The method includes upgrading software through the network and checking whether at least one failure occurs during the upgrade, operating the network device based on an old version of the software used before the upgrade is performed when it is determined that at least one failure has occurred, and operating the network device based on a new version of the software to which the old version is upgraded when it is determined that a failure has not occurred. Accordingly, even if the upgrade of the software is not performed normally, the network device can attempt the upgrade of the software without being serviced or without using an external memory device.

PURPOSE: A software upgrade method and network device is provided to restart to upgrade a software by using a network device in a case that there occurs a hang-up or a latch-up at the network device or an abrupt power-off before the software is normally upgraded. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises a monitoring module(100), the first memory(108), the second memory(109), a controller(106), and a decoder(105). The monitoring module(100) monitors a hang-up or a latch-up while a software is being upgraded. The first memory(108) stores a software needed for operating the network device. The second memory(109) stores data transmitted over a network. The controller(106) stores the data, downloaded via the network, at the second memory(109), and stores the old version of the software at a vacant space of the first memory(108) before the old version of the software is upgraded with the data stored at the second memory(109). The decoder selects a memory device between the first and the second memory(108, 109) and sets an address at the selected memory device for upgrading the software according to the monitoring result.

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for waking a remote terminal up are provided to prevent illegal leakage of information stored in a PC by performing user authentication based on user authentication information. CONSTITUTION: In a method and an apparatus for waking a remote terminal up, a PC(1) is composed of a main system starting device(11), a main system(12), and a legacy network interface card(13). The main system includes a BIOS(Basic Input/Output System)(121), a source management device(122), a protocol stack(123), a CPU(Central Processing Unit), a memory, and an I/O unit. The main system starting device corresponds to the subsystem of the main system. The main system starting device is comprised of a bridge(111), a link layer processing unit(112), a network layer processing unit(113), a security engine(114), storage(115), a user authentication part(116), and a controller(117).
