Abstract: An apparatus and a method for transceiving graphic data are provided to convert the graphic data of an HTML page format corresponding to the request of a user into the code stream of a JPEG2000 format, insert the converted JPEG2000 code stream into an isochronous packet, and provide the graphic data as an isochronous stream, thereby providing the user interface of the HTML page format to a user without separate conversion of the graphic data. A graphic data transmitter(300) and a graphic data receiver(335) are connected through a 1394 bus(330). The graphic data transmitter receiver comprises a graphic data generator(305), a control unit(310), an encoder(315), an MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) processor(320), and a transmitter(325). The graphic data generator generates graphic data corresponding to an HTTP(Hypertext Transfer Protocol) request transferred from the web browser of a receiver(340) through the 1394 bus and transmits the generated graphic data to the encoder. The control unit calls a function corresponding to the HTTP request received in the receiver so that the graphic data generator can generate graphic data. The encoder converts the graphic data format of an HTML(Hypertext Markup Language) page format generated in the graphic data generator into a JPEG2000(Joint Photographic Expert Group2000) format and transmits the converted graphic data to the transmitter. The MPEG processor transmits an A/V(Audio/Video) stream prestored in an head-end or the graphic data transmitter to the graphic data receiver according to the request of a user. The transmitter transmits the code stream of the JPEG2000 format transmitted from the encoder to the receiver through the 1394 bus. The graphic data receiver comprises the receiver, a control unit(345), a decoder(350), an MPEG decoder(355), a composition unit(360), and a display unit(365).
