Abstract: An image forming system applying a direct printing mode and an image forming method thereof are provided to attain a convenient user interface, fast data transfer, and efficient printing option command transfer by using a folder name including a printing option in a host interface, compressing a folder, and transferring the compressed folder to an image forming device. A host(200) includes a user interface(220) for selecting more than one file or folder, and a data compressor(230) for compressing the selected file or folder. The image forming device(210) includes a data decompressor(240) decompressing compressed data and an image printing part(260) printing images of the decompressed data. The user interface uses the printing option including a layout and a color mode as the hierarchical folder name. The image forming device includes a printing option extractor(250) extracting the printing option from information of the hierarchical folder name included in the decompressed data.
