PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for restoring an image are provided to increase possibility for searching a restoring image area the most similar to a restoration image area. CONSTITUTION: A restoration image area setting unit(310) sets part of a target image area as a restoration image area which will be restored first. A search area setting unit(320) sets an area of a preset size including the restoration image area as a search area. A similar image area detecting unit(330) detects the most similar image areas to the restoration image area within the search area. A restoring unit(340) pastes an image of the copied similar image area to the restoration image area.

A portable terminal and a method for editing an image are provided, which make the image that a user wants displayed on the portable terminal. A method for editing an image is as follows. If the image processed as the mosaic image is selected, the selected image is divided into the block image(330). The divided block image color mean value is produced. It determines whether the high position mosaic image for producing the mosaic image is selected or not. In the selected high position mosaic image, the mosaic image corresponding to the calculated color mean value is searched(350). The block image is replaced with the searched mosaic image and the mosaic image is indicated(355,360).

PURPOSE: A device and a method for out focusing are provided to apply out focusing immediately in a digital camera. CONSTITUTION: A target image dividing unit(10) divides an original image into a target image and a back ground image which wants to process an out focus. A burning off point detecting unit detects burning off point of the background image. An image effect processing unit(40) determines whether the burning off point is detected through the burning off point detecting unit. If the burning off point is detected, the image effective processing unit sets blur intensity about an image of area neighboring to the burning off point higher than blur intensity about an image of area far from the burning off point.
