Abstract: PURPOSE: A method of optimizing a weight of periodic sparse arrays for an ultrasound image system is provided to optimize a final beam pattern of periodic sparse arrays by suppressing a grating lobe excluding a common grating lobe of a transmission spare array and a reception spare array. CONSTITUTION: In a method of optimizing a weight of periodic sparse arrays for an ultrasound image system, a transmission spare array(PT) and the number of array(LT) are set not to generate common grating lobe at transmission spare array and transmission spare array. A reception spare array(PR) and the number of array(LR) are set within the period not to generate common grating lobe at transmission spare array and transmission spare array. The transmission weighting function to be applied to a pattern of the transmission spare array is set. The receiving weighting function applied to the pattern of the reception spare array is set.
