Abstract: PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for focusing an ultrasonic beam are provided to reduce delay time data to be downloaded by decreasing an operation quality to calculate delay time. CONSTITUTION: An ultrasonic transducer(130) receives an ultrasonic signal reflected from an object. A data buffer unit(160) stores a plurality of channel data generated from the ultrasonic signal. A delay time operating unit(170) operates delay time applied to the plurality of the channel data. A beam former(180) generates a synthetic beam by synthesizing the plurality of the channel data. A channel aligning unit(140) aligns the channel data.
